Fffffff people.

Today started out all right, went to 'dude, this is FUN' (filming abseilers from the roof of the Union and having to literally lean right over the edge, dangling the camera, to do so) and then now I am in a simmering rage.

The original cause of the said simmering rage? I was filming in the Fresher's Fair and ran straight into the Cardiff Students For Life stall, which was - as usual - staffed almost exclusively by men. Fuck, these creatures make me angry. I'm sorry, but if you are pro-forced birth (which is what being anti-abortion amounts to) then I think you are fucking scum. I'm not saying you are Hitler, but I think you're a piece of shit and I will not associate with you, and it depresses me to think that these dipshits have enough support amongst Cardiff's student body to form a society for the purposes of guilt-tripping and emotionally blackmailing women who dare to act as if they have autonomy over their own goddamn bodies. Funny how these wind-up merchants are incredibly concerned for life -- but only when it isn't female, isn't theirs, and hasn't actually been born yet.

And then I saw this, which didn't so much make me angry as depress me. I know you shouldn't think celebrities you like are somehow superhuman and flawless, but this isn't so much 'has faults' as 'appears to think a twelve-year-old with a twenty-five-year-old is somehow not rape but rather amusing backstory'. -_- I didn't expect much of George Lucas, but I had hoped better of Steven Spielberg.

Over in first-world woes, meanwhile, it turns out I'm not going to see The King's Speech again tonight after all.

Overall: UNIMPRESSED, PEOPLE.

why are people so fucking stupid?, what and indeed the fuck?, feminism - can you do it?, working for the gay reed, baseball bat of +5 feminism, the personal is political, the political is personal, why yes i do rant a lot
