I HAS A BIRFDAY :D

And indeed, it was a good birthday and the birthday, it was good.

Got up this morning (early, for a change) and the parents had decorated the house with banners and balloons (lots and lots of balloons. Apparently my mother was very, VERY pleased to have found balloons with the 'Happy Birthday!' message the right way up) and suchlike. I had lots of cards, £50 in cash from assorted family members, an enormous and gorgeous Thornton's birthday cake with personalised candles, and a 1 Terabyte hard drive and Sherlock DVD from my parents and I Shall Wear Midnight, the new Terry Pratchett book, from Small Brother.

Scooted off at 8:30 with father and brother, eventually getting dropped off in Cardiff with boxes and boxes of stuff to move into the new place. (Almost) all my books and DVDs are now in there! \o/ Also, Gareth has done a really great job fixing the cupboard door in my room and working on my bedroom door. Met up with Teaboy and Emily and got my birthday present from them (another Sherlock DVD, alas! I was all 'and this is what I got off my parents!' and Teaboy went '...Ah.' and handed me my present. Ooooops.) and there was tea and the returning of books and the borrowing of other books. Teaboy also brought me back my diary, which I'd left at DiscworldCon. Then Cat turned up and gave me my presents from her and Chris: a Tinkerbell glass and beautiful Tinkerbell mug. Ran off sooner than I'd like (alas!) to catch my train, called in at the Mature Learning Centre or whatever it's called to find out about Welsh classes for next year, grabbed a Thornton's chocolate bar for great om nom nom, bought the new Stephen Fry autobiography because WHSmiths had it for half price, and popped into HMV to change the second Sherlock DVD for Going Postal special edition.

And then I had to run like hell to get the train home in time, and then walked from station to home. I did this all (even hopping up and down the step-ladder to reach high shelves in the new house) in my high-heeled boots. Bear this in mind for later.

Found out my grandad's finally out of hospital! (He had his skin cancer tumour removed on Thursday, FYI, as well as a major skin graft. Rock on the NHS, they've been amazing with him.) He is back to complaining as usual.

Had a bath and got dressed ... back into high heels, this time my pin-striped Irregular Choice stilettos. Yeeeeah, not such a smart idea. Brother returned from rugby and showered, and then it was back into the car because my parents were taking us out for a meal in Cosmo, the gorgeous pan-Asian all-you-can-eat in Cardiff Bay. Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmf. Great curries, beautiful sushi, amazing steak cooked in front of you, and a massive range of desserts including a chocolate fountain. My life omg. Pretty sure Matt Smith was over in the corner, but did not investigate further as hey, restaurant. Pretty much the very height of do-not-bother territory.

Then we went for a walk around the bay in the prettiness, and my dad played rugby with Morgan... right up until he took a hell of a pearler and buggered up his hand. Silly git. It was pretty swollen when he went to bed just now, so I really hope he's all right.

And then when we got home there were drinks until all the mixer ran out and then no more boozes. D: But, also, there was a shedload of happy birthday messages on FaceBook (like, twenty or so. I couldn't believe it, not least because I never use the damn thing) and an email from Del to say the same thing. <3 There was also an email from Glastonbury confirming my registration for next year's festival (yay!) and one from Hat Trick Productions to tell me that they're putting Have I Got News For You tickets up for grabs a week today. \o/ MUST HAVE MUST MUST MUST. Finally, just before I went to bed I opened up the post that had turned up while I was out and got some more cards and a really cute floaty TARDIS pen from Charlotte. :D

Basically, in conclusion, my feet are killing me and my legs are seizing up, and my dad is rather bashed, but I would like to call this day overall made of awesome. And I'm told that I still have some presents to come!
