So I seem to have, er, borrowed the password for the internet in the B&B we wound up staying in. Without asking. (It was written on the wireless router in the hall!)
Er.
Oops?
*cheerful*
In notes:
- So
John Barrowman has told the crazy 'bring back Ianto!' Torchwood and Janto fanbrats to, and I quote, 'get over it'. And when I glanced through SFX Magazine yesterday I saw an interview in which Rusty confirmed Ianto wouldn't be back next series. Brb, cheering! I was sad when Ianto 'died' (hi, people, Ianto isn't actually dead... BECAUSE HE'S NOT A REAL PERSON), too ... for maybe a couple of days. Since then, the ridiculous memorial down the Bay (still massive over a year after CoE ended) and some of the alleged fans' actions have made me progressively more irritated and weirded out by this bizarre fixation on a fictional character. Frankly, at this stage, it is just fucking CREEPY, and I've actually got to the point where I am very very glad that Ianto is staying dead because however much I liked the character, I'd hate to see these brats think their public tantrums have got them what they want.
- Weekend before last was London Collectormania, featuring Bill Shatner (sidenote: did you know that the first result you get for typing 'Captain Kirk' into the Google toolbar is 'Captain Kirk is climbing a mountain'?), Lis Sladen and Matty Lewis (&hearts), amongst others. I had a really good time, but mostly what I enjoyed was getting to see Lauren and Michelle and Embly and Jannicke and just how relaxed it mostly was. I hung out in London until the Wednesday, meeting up with
stella_polaris for the first time ever (we had breakfast in Covent Garden), spending an evening with
rowanberries and getting to spend time with
apiphile again, since she was kind enough to let me crash at hers for two nights. There was also one point where the two of us ran fully-clothed through the fountains on the Embankment, giggling like loons. >.> I also saw and enjoyed Priscilla, Queen of the Desert, which was pretty good but needed some work on the sound system - I could hear normal speech fine, but lyrics were often hard to make out.
- We went to my cousin's wedding in Leicester last weekend and a great time was had by all. My other cousin had just had her baby, which meant I got some very cute photos of tiny Iwan being the best-cwtched three-day-old in the entire country and not batting an eyelid, mainly because he was asleep 99% of the time. I almost thought I might have a squidgeon of maternal feelings after all, but then he threw up all over his dad and my immediate instinct was to flee. (I eventually settled for passing tissues across from a safe distance.) Babies: they're cute, but cute like puppies, kittens or baby bunnies. And I don't want a baby rabbit, either, however nice they may be to cuddle.
- I met up with
stella_polaris on Tuesday and had a great time. SHE IS AWESOME YOU GUISE. We hung out at the Bay and I introduced her to Cabin Pressure and we bitched a bit about Ianto's shrine and went shopping and perved over jewellery and then we finished the day by lying on her bed in the Cardiff Hilton and re-watching the first episode of Sherlock and squeeing. We perved over Benedict Cumberbatch a lot (we also rechristened him Eggs Cucumberpatch) and she has a terribly dirty mind and I approve. XD
- My brother, in a random strop with me last night, decided to delete all the files relating to the Batman: Arkham Asylum game I was playing on the XBox. He's also spent all of today bitching at me. Since I was over halfway through I'm quite seriously unimpressed, but am resisting actual anger on the grounds that hey, he's saved me a good eighty quid since I have no interest in taking a petulant little boy to London and a show for his birthday.
- I have a new fandom and it is all that is shiny and gleeful. *cuddles Sherlock* Or rather, it was. I still am joyous over it and the fic and the fanmixes and the art and the general gleeful shenanigans, but we're one episode in and already some of the fanbrats have started whining because Watson MIGHT be showing signs of having a heterosexual lovelife and whine whine whine BUT HOW WILL WE EVER SHIP HOLMES/WATSON NOW???? whine whine whine fuckery. Including hoping that Possible Girlfriend gets blown up by Moriarty, because obviously what the world needs is more Women In Refrigerators. I wish I could say I'm surprised, but I'm really not. What is it about slashers and misogyny? AND CAN WE ALL FUCKING STOP THAT SHIT, PLEASE?
- Finally: I'm away in Cornwall for a week with unpredictable levels of internet. Will be back a week on Saturday afternoon! Don't break the internet while I'm not there to see the explosion.
