I think this is the longest yet. Suffice to say, it's been another hell of a month, and I'm job hunting again. On the other hand, I adore my current room and roommate, and there are some prospects. I just needed a break from TALKING about it all. That job wasn't the worst, but for some reason, it was sapping my energy. I spent the last few weeks of it in near hermit-mode. Now, I've got something to look forward to.
Also, my boss was a bastard. Inconveniencing him inspired a special, guilty little joy that everyone should get to experience, if only once.
Anyways, I'm posting for two reasons:
1. Last week, Jenjo tagged me, and now I'm supposed to list one thing that makes me happy every day. That... isn't going to happen (sorry!), not because I don't honestly try to be optimistic, but simply because I don't see myself posting here everyday.
That said: I have a great roommate and great friends now, and am finally comfortable in my own home. I live in a country where I can eat so much delicious pumpkin that I turn ORANGE. Everyday, I see otherwise upright, starched and bleached businessmen going for walks with their sweater-wearing miniature poodles. I bought a new cookbook that's full of easy-to-make low-fat vegetarian recipes, and have thus been able to enjoy spaghetti twice in the past week with minimal neurosis. I have Skype, and can talk to my parents (and pets) on the other side of the world as clearly as though they're in the same room with me. I've been hit on by creepy, desperate foreigners a couple times in the past few days, which is annoying and creepy but also incredibly empowering, especially when I turn them down. I can almost follow the Super Sentai and Kamen Rider series when I watch while I lift weights on Sunday mornings. And, finally, I went to a job interview at a bilingual preschool yesterday, and a little four-year-old girl politely asked for a piece of paper, then drew a picture of me walking "my" dog. Said picture is now hanging in a coveted spot on my wall, where it will remain for all eternity.
Does that cover it? Right-o, then.
2. I started a
proper blog, at long last. It is called
Three Years on a Rock. Want to know where the name came from? Want to read about the curiously bent connections in Amanda's brain? Want to avoid being un-subtlely pestered for the foreseeable future?
GO READ THE BLOG.
