“Cast your cares on the Lord and He will sustain you.” Psalm 55:22

What a verse! It seems pretty simple at first and most of us wouldn’t look twice at it. But as I was sitting on the bus on the way to school at 7 am in the morning I read it again and realized there was more to it then what it first seems. Let’s break this verse down into two parts and see what we can get from this.
Well what does cast your cares on the Lord mean exactly? Does it mean to tell God your problems? Well that’s what I thought initially but there is more than that. It is more than just simply praying about your problems. It’s whole heartedly SURRENDERING. It’s one thing to tell God your problems but you need to give them to Him as well. Lay every aspect of it down for Him and ask him to take it, take all of it. You need to trust Him with it.

Now, let’s look at the second part of the verse, ‘and He will sustain you.’ Some of us might like to think after we whole-heartedly give our problems to God he will just make them go away. However, that is not what “sustain” means. It doesn’t mean that you won’t feel pain; it doesn’t even tell us that He will make it alright. What it does mean is that He will take care of you. He will hold you in his loving arms and just keep you there - if you let him. You need to trust that He knows best and He will sustain you and with Him you can make it through anything.

So I ask, what is it that you are not handing over to God? What is it that you are holding back on? Maybe you should go talk to our loving Father now and surrender some of your burdens, trust me you will feel a load lifted off your shoulders
