Y'know, something's been bugging me. When I got here a while ago, I was... older. Taller 'n all that, definitely more 'n I should've been. Then 'bout a year ago [ to the day, as a matter of fact ] I turned back to normal. Dunno why.

That ever happen to anybody else here? Or-'ve you ever heard 'bout it?

[Sefton. Sefton when you go up to your room tonight you will find a plushie waiting for you on your bed. It's over-big because of too much material, too much stuffing in some places and not enough in others, and pretty lopsided, with crooked seams, but hey, at least it's still cute? And also: big. Use it as a wrap-around pillow.]

I remember that. But I haven't heard of it with anyone else.

[A beat.]

Snape was asking after you. He wants to continue some kind of experiment he says he was working with you on. Is that true?

[It would be pretty hard to miss the distaste in his tone.]

[ Well, that is definitely not what he expected when he came back inside. There's a slow approach before he sits down in front of it, pulling the head-side up and around in front of him, half-hugging it and half-using it as a way to prop his chin up before he answers the comm this time. Sefton's not sure what to make of the plushie, but he does know it looks like a lot of work went into it. ]

I don't get it. Why'd it happen at all...?

[ Snape? ... Oh. Oops. 'Experiment' gathers a small flinch from him before he continues, noting the tone as he does. ]

Uh... Y-yeah, I guess so.

I don't know. Just part of the city being frustrating, I suppose.

[A bit of a sigh. He wants to ask, but after barging into the teen's bedroom last week ...]

Well, like I said, he wants to continue it with you. I told him I'd ask you if you wanted to, so the question is: do you?

I guess so.

[ Beat. Nervous lip-licking goes here. ]

Yeah, I... I do. But... you know him?

[ After the way Lance asked, he doesn't want to risk another situation like with Conrad happening again. ]

[A pause.]

We're ... not on very good terms. His entitlement gets in the way of communicating and his methods leave a lot to be desired whenever something doesn't go the way he wants.

... so, kinda like you?

[Have a startled (and faintly proud, even) laugh.]

I deserved that. It's ... probably one of the reasons we don't get on too well. But there's some things he resorts to which I don't approve of and his use of them hasn't given me any reason to trust his restraint.

[Another pause while he considers whether he should clarify or not. Yes, he should.]

When we first met he tried to manipulate my memories. I'll admit I pushed him; asked him too much, too fast. Still, there were other avenues he could have taken other than attacking me, and yet that's what he chose.

He-he did what?

[Quietly]

I figured out something he didn't like me figuring out, so he tried to wipe it from my memory. It didn't take and I didn't need to push him as hard as I did, but there wasn't much call for him to do something so extreme. That's why I don't trust his restraint when things don't go his way.

Figured what out? [ It's not necessarily an actual question, but... seriously? That's more than freaky to Sefton, that someone would just step in and try to change a mind around because they don't like a part of it. ] I... okay.

That's neither of our business.

Just be careful, okay? I'd rather not have him here without supervision, but if you'd like him to come he can.

[ Oh. He hesitates, because that's true. Still... really freaky. ]

What kinda supervision?

That ... depends on where he wants it to happen, I guess. If it's out in the yard Ptera can watch from the roof. If it's in your room, that will be harder. Either Ptera or Hakuryu on the roof outside, if the window's open.

Either way, it won't have to be me. Just one of the dragons to make sure he's not doing anything stupid and not going anywhere he's not meant to be.

[A beat.]

And if ... you have any suggestions with that, I'm listening.

Um. I dunno. [ He kinda doesn't want to be watched at all, on the chance one of the dragons will figure out what they're up to... ]

Hakuryu'd probably be better, huh?

Given that Ptera attacked him in my defence last time ... probably.

[Don't worry, Sefton. Dragonair is smart as smart, but this 'experiment' requires a creativity of thought that nearly all dragons lack.]

Is that alright? Do you mind?

I... I guess not. You-wouldn't be 'round?
