Tuesday Night -- The Streets diana_abel November 28 2011, 18:34:02 UTC
Although she had a pretty lush job with tons of ridiculously cool perks, there were still evenings when Diana felt the urge to get out and perform on the streets. She supposed it was the old hippie in her. Maybe combined with the fact that she knew her shares weren't exactly fantastic. How was she supposed to deliver her message if no one listened? It was an endless frustration. And it didn't help that her most loyal followers usually just called in to mock her.

And so, she was out on the street tonight, strumming away at her guitar, the open case at her feet and already filled with quite a few coins, crumpled bills, and one condom.

"In whatever time we have
For as long as we are living
We can face whatever comes
If we face it now as one
I could make on my own
Let me know that I don't have to
No one really wants to be alone
In whatever we time have..."She glanced up as she strummed her way into the second verse, noticing a passer-by. He looked like he could afford to give (and she did plan to donate this particular take), so ( ... )

Chris wasn't usually the type to stop on a street corner and listen to random performers. Growing up in San Francisco, it wasn't exactly uncommon. This one caught his eye, and he glanced over toward her, brow furrowed. Her voice sounded familiar - before he could really follow up on the thought, someone pushed past him with the urgency of being incredibly late for some very important date (or maybe just trying to get out of the awful weather), and Chris stumbled aside. Etana yelped at his feet, snapping her teeth quietly at the passer-by, while Chris found the back of his foot catching on the edge of the guitar case and tipping it over in something of a fantastic clatter ( ... )

There were quite a lot of things to be startled by. The sudden appearance of a talking fox definitely ranked high up there. But this was Bete Noire and Diana feared she was losing her sense of wonder, because it definitely didn't throw her nearly as much as it would have back home.

A boy stumbling over her? Well, that was just old hat.

She stopped playing, a smile tugging up the corners of her lips. "Been awhile since a guy fell for me," she teased gently. It might have been her fault, she supposed. Awe could sometimes be a little unpredictable. But she was more inclined to blame the jerk.

Well, she could take 'agreeing with an animal' off her bucket list now.

"You okay there, tiger?" she asked the guy.

"Yeah," Chris answered. "I'm fine. Sorry about-" He gestured toward the mess, then crouched down to fix the case and start depositing the earnings back into it wordlessly. Etana delicately grabbed a few bills in her mouth and did the same, careful not to get any saliva on them.

As he did this, Chris looked back up at her, expression contemplative. It was a little different from simply talking to someone over the network, but he did recognize her. Great, the girl Wyatt had told way too much to. "We've spoken before, haven't we?"

Monday Afternoon tamedhollow November 30 2011, 05:51:20 UTC
Mondays were dull. Dull. Nothing seemed to happen on Mondays. And so, Ichigo was home early. And was he ever glad. Because Saturday and Sunday? Were not dull. They were the opposite of dull. And Ichigo was still wiped. The Hollow boy is out of his gigai and up to his nose in the largest outdoor pool. Little is visible except his puff of orange hair.

Haru, the colorful tropical dragon, is out and about in the forest, but never straying far from the heat of the springs. The presence of a stranger alerts him, and he lets out a trumpeting noise. Visitors!

"What the hell?"

Chris glanced around quickly at the sudden noise and found himself heading toward it to find its source. It sounded like an animal, not an alarm, but he still wasn't quite sure what sort of animal. When he caught sight of the dragon, he stopped short, brows drawn together as he tried to figure it out.

Etana tilted her head to the side, more curious about what Haru was doing than what he was. "Maybe it's saying hello," she suggested humorously. "Or maybe it's the guard dog getting ready to attack."

"Thanks for that," Chris said, biting sarcasm in his voice as he glanced down to Etana. He really didn't want to get in a fight or have to run right now.

Haru looked down at Chris and his.... pet? No. The dragon could tell it was something different. More like him and master! The colorful dragon flares his crest and lets out another trumpeting noise before darting off through the trees back towards the onsen. Hopping down to ground level, he rubs on Ichigo, who is now halfway out of the water.

"Alright, I get it, someone's here! If you didn't scare them away, already. Shut up already!" The words are harsh, but softened by the delivery. Ichigo rubs the dragon behind his ears and calls out down the path.

"Oiii! You here to visit the onsen?"

"Why else would I be here?" Chris called back, exasperated but not angry. He recognized the voice, though it wasn't one he had heard very recently. Wasn't that the kid who used to work at Hellsing, the one who was part-hollow, but not part-Hollow? Itch...something. Ichigo? It sounded right to Chris, at least.

Etana snorted softly. "Guess it was the welcome wagon."

Now that the Curse of Babel fruit has worn off, Aïs has taken a delight in pretty much everything. Reading books in the library, exploring, going into all the stores he comes across... Anything that involves learning more about the strange place he's in now. Cooking is something he has especially taken an interest in, thanks to his stumbling upon a recipe book in the library. He'd never encountered these foods, these strange powders, these bottles. He wanted to try it out, and he quickly discovered that not only does he get a chance to try out new and interesting foods, but he's good at it.

Saïx's cooking skills are apparently innate. Who knew?

Aïs is currently wrestling with pizza dough while Senaya sits on the corner of the counter in the form of a domestic cat. Her tail is swishing in an amused fashion as he grumbles under his breath.

When Chris came into the kitchen, he didn't exactly expect to see Aïs there. Oh, he knew the kid was staying in the house, but he had never really done any more than just cross paths before getting back to whatever it was he had been doing at the time. "Hey," he greeted, quirking an intrigued and somewhat amused brow at Aïs' struggle with the pizza dough. "You all right there?" (The greetings were automatic; he didn't know whether the kid could communicate or not, but maybe at least something would be gleaned from his tone.)

Etana was on his heels, attention quickly taken up by the dæmon on the counter. She hopped up once Chris was close enough and sat nearby Senaya, an automatic reaction to stay closer to her kin than Chris's.

At the sound of footsteps, Senaya's ears perk and she looks towards the doorway. Aïs continues fighting with the dough until a familiar voice speaks, and then he looks up and blinks. At seeing Chris, he smiles his greeting.

"Yes, I am fine," he replies. He could explain what happened there with the languages, but, well. What would be the fun in that? He can explain afterwards.

Senaya looks at Etana and flicks her tail in her own greeting.

Chris paused, clearly surprised. "That was English," he said, confused and semi-accusatory. "You speak English?" So what was that whole conversation over the network about, then?

Etana nodded in response to Senaya and laid down to match her. She had tilted her head at the greeting from Aïs, but remained quiet. Chris was already on the same track she was; no need to double-team the kid.
