Rukia found herself restless these past few weeks. With the passing of the Ghost Arakora, things had died down considerably and the city seemed like it might actually let them enjoy a bit of peace. Of course, this was peace as the City of Sin gauged it, so there was always at least some minor evil haunting the mortal populace or menacing the supernatural ones.

It was a rare afternoon Rukia actually took her lunch break from Hellsing and came to the library, gliding like a short, thin specter among the aisles. She looked for books on botany, urban gardening, or other tomes on how a city dweller could practice their green thumbs with limited space, sunshine, rain, and resources. There was also books on herbal remedy, creating home made items such as lotion, soap, and other cosmetic products from natural ingredients. With her arms loaded to an almost comical height, she strode over to the lounging area and found a cozy corner and dropped into a chair, her legs curling up easily in the seat.

Moving through the pile for her first selection, she found a book at the top she didnt remember pulling from the shelves: Just Like Me: Effective Communication for Understanding Your Partner. Turning the self-help book over in her hands, she read the back of it for a moment before tossing it on a nearby table with a scoff - she wasn't even in a relationship! Where did that rubbish come from, anyway?

Tucked in, Rukia started through a horticulture guide before she finally looked over at the only other patron in the library, enthroned by his own impressive pile of books. Even from here, Rukia eyed the cup at his elbow and raised a brow. Since Zangetsu-san started his garden, teas had been one of the things he'd been largely successful in making. It'd made her a bit of a tea fiend as a result.

"Pardon me, but what kind of tea is that?"

"Ah..." He stared dumbly at her for a few beats, pulling his mind out of the trance of research. The book in his hand was Museum Studies: An Anthropology of Contexts, and likely accounted for his blank expression. It was mind-numbingly dull.

"Oh! Ah, coffee, sorry. I shouldn't have it in here, should I?"

Coffee. Rukia had tried the beverage before, but it was simply too bitter for her tastes. Even doctored with sugar and cream and all manner of flavoring, it just didn't sit on her tongue quite right. Or maybe she was just spoiled by her roommate's jasmine and mint tea blend.

"Ahh, I don't think so, but," Speaking of, Rukia pulls out a little carafe of the above tea from somewhere in her pocketless dress (she actually had it stored in her shinigami uniform, it was just a trick to concentrate on it to make it manifest in her hand) "I wont tattle if you won't."

Rory eyed the tea, and took a self-conscious 'sip' from his empty cup. "Works for me."

Rukia mimicked him, as if the action bound them together in an ancient fraternity of sneaking illicit beverages into libraries. Mmm, it was still chilled inside the insulated cup, thank goodness. This heat was terrible. The carafe vanishes inside the folds of her dress again and she settles back down into her chair.

"Museum studies? Are you a librarian?"

"Huh? Oh, um. No, I'm just looking for some-thing." Someone, actually. "Do you know if this is the only library in town?"

"I'm not aware of any other libraries, but there are book vendors down at the Market. There's a wide variety sold, so I suppose it would be a matter of luck finding what you're looking for."

"Luck's not on my side lately..." He closed his book, and set it carelessly on top of the teetering stack. "Don't even know if any of these books are relevant."

"Well, what are you looking for?" She eyed the wobbly stack with trepidation. But it seemed to be keeping up for the moment.

"Uh... I left something behind. I mean, when I came here. Well, was brought here. Something important. And I was looking to see if I could find any record of it."

Rukia reclined back into her chair, thinking.

"Perhaps there might be someone in the city that might be familiar with what you're looking for? Maybe they could help narrow your search."

"No, there wouldn't be... it's kind of a special... thing. And I'm supposed to be guarding it."

Ahh, if he was guarding it, then that would explain his zeal.

"Are you sure it arrived in the city with you?"

"No. No. I know it didn't. Giant black box covered in seals, it'd be hard to miss... That's why I'm looking for it in the history books. I left it in seventeen forty-five."

She doesn't seem perturbed by the date. She was familiar with the human system of time keeping, but it varied from culture to culture sometimes.

"In what area?"

"In Paris, France. Le Palais de la Louvre. It wasn't open to the public, yet, and I think most people had forgotten the Pandorica was there..."
