Ada did appear to.... pretend not to be checking on him. Really. Why would she check on him? He's not dead.

She was uncharacteristically quiet when she arrived. She paced the room several times and didn't even bother looking at Tony.

With his back turned to the door, Tony fails to notice anyone entering. But with how the shadows shift in another direction on the tiled floor, the room's light on low for the evening, and how the voices breathe a new taint into their sound, he can guess.

"Please don't tell me you brought Get Well flowers," he murmurs. "They'll stink up the whole place."

"I despise flowers," was her version of a no.

"I can have you removed from here if you wish," she commented as she glanced out a convenient window.

He thinks about the empty indent on the pillow where Tyki rested his head, and he also thinks about the absent echo in the living room when he called out, "River?"

"No," he says. His voice turns raspy. "I'm fine right here."

If Tony is aware enough to notice, he may perceive the sound of commotion nearby. People running. Chaos. Doors slamming.

And then Delta bursts in.

He shuts the door, quickly, behind himself.

"Tony," he says. "Hi."

A slight movement of his head on the pillow, facing away from the door and curled on his side underneath the thick, course blankets.

He hunches farther into himself.

By this point, he's losing touch with the world around him.

Benjamin moves closer. His fingers curl around Tony's shoulder, pulling him onto his back, as Benjamin slides onto the bed.

He reacts as soon as those fingers touch down, a knee-jerk twist and shove away that sends him a half-sit-up and pushed against the bed rail. Facing Benjamin now, at least, with the blankets thrown off--stubble has grown in around the beard, the hair unkempt, a touch of wild in the eyes, but mostly, a glassy sort of terror.

His arms shake with the effort of holding himself up, and Tony stares at him, breath short and quickened.

Uhura found out when she went to see Tony on Tuesday and he wasn't home. She didn't go rushing to the hospital then, because she hadn't had the time, but she had the time now. Not a ton of time, but a lunch break. It was better than nothing.

She knocked once on the door to signal her presence, and to catch his attention so he'd be looking at it when it opened, so he'd be able to see her hands. Then she slipped inside.

'Hello, Mr. Stark.'

Tony shifts when Uhura enters. When he can't recognize the person from the city's whispers alone, he turns a little; looks over his shoulder and out of the corner of his eye. Miss Press Secretary, he thinks, and pulls himself up in the bed with a hand running through his hair. He begins to wonder if he should just demand for no visitors ( ... )

'Maybe I'm just nosey.'

She walks the rest of the way into the room, high heels clicking decisively on the floor until she's right next to the bed, standing right behind the tray of untouched food.

'You shouldn't let this get cold.'

She reaches for the packet of utensils, tearing it open for him, and then taking the fork to compile a bite of food.

A look up at her out of the corner of his eye--still manages a deadpan or sardonic raise of his eyebrow even now--and he says, "Be my guest at it. It's all yours."

Since she was very much avoiding the mansion after what had transpired last night, Bennett was sticking it out at the hospital. She had laid down for a few hours but considering Bennett wasn't someone who needed a lot of sleep, she was up in what seemed like barely any time at all. After grabbing something to munch on, Bennett decided she might as well check on Tony.

Not wanting to disturb him if he was sleeping, she just sat in the chair near the bed and tried to munch on her wasabi peas as quietly as she could. If Tony started some sort of argument with her, Bennett could hardly care. It'd be better than running into Claire, Wes and Faith again.

Minutes pass in silence, his back turned to her, on his side away from the door as usual, with only the beep of machines and people passing by outside.

Then, without turning around, he says, "You know, I make for a kinda boring evening show. Might want to take the staring elsewhere."

"Perhaps," she says quietly, "But I have no real intention to go home tonight." Whether or not he wants to inquire why is up to him. She won't divulge that particular detail on her own. Bennett doesn't want to think about it but it'd probably do her some good to say something about it. Even if it was just explaining the bare minimum about it. She was dwelling, something she happened to do frequently.

"Yeah, well, I have no intention of hosting a slumber party." He shifts up then, into a weak sit, with his eyes on the covers and his curled fingers on top of them. The main light comes from the hallway, after he shut the overheads off himself. (Whenever he wants something done, like the lights, or a walk to the attached restroom, he just yanks off whatever wires and cables hooked onto him and does it himself. The nurses have learned to anticipate the inevitable alarm.) "So'd you come to see if I was still being a good little patient?"

Sirius was intensely worried about Tony. He'd gone back through the network and talked to Lily, and he wasn't really certain how he could help. But he needed to see him, which was why he made his way to the hospital.

He Apparated just outside Tony's room, not wanting to startle him -- then he made his way in, slowly and cautiously.

Tony's sitting up in bed this time, fingers rubbing over the scruff on his face. He's shaved, but it's a lackluster job, too distracted by the Magistrate's powers and how they affect him.

He's losing himself bit by bit each day. Bennett's chip may have controlled Extremis and cleared his thoughts, but when the city around him breathes and speaks and touches his skin, it's only a stopgap for the real solution.

It converges, all the shadows in the white room and the blurring edges of the machines, to the door, and he drags his eyes over to Sirius.

"Tony?" Sirius whispers, gently placing a hand on his shoulder. A bit cautiously, not knowing how Tony will react to it.

"It's me, Sirius. I'm here." He tries to sound reassuring.

Tony opens his mouth to answer him, but then it happens with a sharp gasp and in an instant: his hand shoots out and slams into Sirius's chest, to push him away when Sirius touches him, just a flurry of limbs and knee-jerk reaction. (Between the movement, maybe a flash of wide-eyed fear.)

Then, he backs into the bed railing, one hand gripping it behind him so hard that the skin squeaks around the metal, and bites out, "Don't."
