How does Tumblr work? If I wanted to post my stories on there, are there any communities like we have here where I can post them so people will see them?
How do you get a post noticed by new people on Tumblr?
What a lot of folks do is post links to their stories going off to other sites. Like all my Doctor/River gets posted there, but it links to Ao3.
The key thing to know is what tags people use for particular pairings. Like the Doctor/River one is DRfic, things like that. Also, once folks get to know and follow you, they'll start reblogging your fic and it goes on like that. I also will reblog myself a couple times to catch different crowds. I've gone from having little notes/reblogs to about 40-70 per fic posted.
Best bet is an image that draws the eye, links to your fics*, and the right tags.
*Or at least cuts. Tumblr doesn't like walls of text.
Some fandoms have directories of blogs that post about that fandom. You might search for one of those and ask the owner of the directory blog to include you.
But the majority of your traffic will come from the right tags, attractive images, and getting reblogged into perpetuity.

Which reminds me ... *wanders off to post fic*
