Fic Rec : The Lost Days of Melody Pond
I don't normally recommend fics, especially WIPs, but this one is lovely and it's moving along nicely.
The Lost Days of Melody Pond by JaneScarlett - This is the story of River Song's earliest years. The Doctor finds River's Diary, except it's not the blue book he gave her, this is another book, this is Mels' diary. And the Doctor starts reading it in secret, against Amy's warnings.
In her own words, Mels tells what happened to her in those lost years between regenerating in an alley in New York and arriving as a child in Leadworth, to grow up alongside her parents. And the Doctor finds himself fascinated, sneaking new chapters each night, and doing what he can to make her life more bearable, since he wasn't able to save her from it.
It's an excellent read, and so far they're up to Amelia and Mels together in third grade. But, Mels isn't as young as she looks... (Read More...)
