Looking forward

So, my new roommate moved in around 2pm today. Things are looking good. She's pretty cool. She works as an administrative assistant for Johnson & Wales University in Denver. It's nice to have someone else in my house again. She brought her two cats. We haven't talked a whole lot since then, but I figure she and her cats could use a little settling in first.

On Friday, I stopped by the HR director's office just before leaving work to talk about insurance issues. Turns out that the company is changing carriers, and as of 2008, the new carrier will cover cochlear implants. I've been wanting, for a while, to have my left ear implanted so I can get binaural hearing back after not having had it for over 5 years. I'm pretty tired of not hearing sound on my left side anywhere near as well as on my right side. I read their policy and it looks like they would cover this operation for me. So I am pretty excited about that! :)

In my experience, companies often change insurance carriers on a year to year basis. So, I am going to assume I'll need to move pretty quickly to make it happen. So after a few weeks of due consideration and consultation with my parents, I think I'm going to get the ball rolling in January. It can take a few months to make the determination (which is not guaranteed, but I have to be optimistic), and then another few months to get to the front of the surgery wait list.

But still, I look forward to 2008! :)
