Woo! Saw fireworks at the LA Coliseum today (which is ironically next to USC, hahaha). As I was watching the fireworks, I thought of this haiku during the "not as exciting" parts of the fireworks show.
Across the dark sky they fly
Shimmering brightly
Fading into our young hearts
I thought I should write a more positive haiku, because there's a ton of people who write really depressing things about fireworks (like how they shine so brightly but only fade in the end, etc.), but I didn't think such a poem fit such a happy time of our lives.
The show itself was pretty awesome! Towards the end, it turns out we sat so close to where they were shooting the fireworks, we could FEEL the air being pushed by the explosions of the fireworks. So the energy of the fireworks were passing right through us in the air, sound, as well as the bright lights that showed up in the sky :D.
