Hostess with the Leastest

I enjoy planning parties and get-togethers. I loved my turn(s) at planning wine and cheese for the seniors, thinking up a menu, going the extra step with darling decorative paperware, etc. Even now, there are several party ideas floating around in my head...ideas that will have to wait until I come up with a better place to entertain... and enough ( Read more... )

How 'bout JUST the magician? That would rock hard.

Or maybe a ventriloquist? (East Coast, of course.)

Clubs halls can often be a nice place to get space cheap. Like a Legion or The Sons of Italy... Pot lucks are also a nice way to save money. I say give them a gift certificate to a nice place that's not too snooty and be done with it. But, if you need help planning something bigger, let me know. My mom can get deals through her job.

We DO have an Amvets down the road...I spent many a Friday night there as a silly young thing. Still, my mother's original plan was a snooty brunch at the Lantana. Bua ha ha.

I've definitely got pressure. For my grandparents' 25th, my mother and her brother threw a huge-ass party AND sent them to Bermuda for a week. It makes me want to throw up, a little, that it would be CHEAPER to send my parents to the Carribbean for a WEEK than to throw this party.

And since when did it fall to the children to take charge of the wedding anniversary, anyway?

They have until tonight to decide what they want to do. We'll see.

Sounds like a headache! Definitely not one of the benefits of being the only child. Wouldn't it be cool if travel agencies or websites had something like a bridal registry but for couples. You could sign them up, send fancy letters to all their friends and they could contribute to a vacation for your rents? We should totally invent that feature, we'd be thousandaires!

Another idea for cheap venue - what about a park pavilion? Those things are usually cheaper and have parking. You could make it a pot luck picnic party.
