Hello everyone!
I recently cleared up my wardrobe and discovered some unworn gems and others that I've yet to see any reviews on so I thought I'd just review them all.
First up, this gorgeous skirt!
AFA Suit Up Herringbone Skirt in Whiskey, Size L (BO batch)
For AFA, I tend to take Size M for most of their bottoms but this time, I decided to size up as I felt Size M would be too short on me (It certainly looked so short on the models!!)
It was the right choice as its just the right length for me. Side note: This skirt has a slight tendency to ride up, so I would advise sizing up, so that it doesn't become uber short (and obscene) on you.
Quality of the skirt is fantastic, thick and weighted (as you can see from the pics how the pleats seem to fall and are so well defined). I actually hesitated buying this skirt from the initial launch as I read somewhere that it didn't have lining and I'm do prefer lined skirts. Thank goodness AFA listened to the people (Kudos to them!) and decided to manufacture the BO batch with lining (AND its the SILKY kinda lining- that amps up the luxe factor of the skirt, makes it so much more comfortable to wear and makes my penny worth!! Refer to the pic above!)
I'm also glad that it comes with pockets that are quite deep and increases the functionality of the skirt.
Colour-wise, I decided to opt for whiskey as its a unique palette and i felt that the herringbone design would be more prominent for whiskey, then say navy or grey.
Overall, I'm a really really happy girl with this purchase because I especially like how its in trend for both overseas and local wear, thereby stretching your penny even more. (I can already imagine myself pairing this with black tights overseas) I strongly advocate you'll hunting down a piece (BO batch recommended) just because its so chic! AND the kinda skirt that you keep and then pass down to your kids in the future :P
Smoochthelabel Sicily Blossom Skirt in Navy Blue, Size S (But tagged M)
I bought this skirt from Smooch cos I really liked the prints and I believe its Dolce&Gabbana inspired. This skirt retailed for $36 on Smooch. I was initially willing to pay the price because I thought it was one of a kind, until I saw HVV sell it too. (although they didn't have navy) To be frank, I don't feel it justifies a price tag of $36. Probably $29 is the max I would pay for it.
Quality-wise, it definitely is thick and structured. You can't really see from my pics but the material that the skirt is printed on is embossed and the lining is a wooly-felt kinda material. Its saving grace I feel would be the tulip cut (That flatters bottom heavy women especially) The length is alright for me. Its at a length I would call, cute? Gives off a very flirty vibe especially if you pair with a crop top.
I only wish they had pockets, then maybe I would consider keeping it.
Hence, I'm selling this off at $25 mailed. Email me if you're interested!
Love Bonito Tristyn Shorts in Cobalt, Size S
I followed LB's measurements and sized down for this. Material is exactly the same as the material of LB's Tristyn Top (Which can I say is actually a really great basic if you can overlook/hide that ugly elastic ribbing at the bottom) The shorts is a good basic to own if you don't have this colour. Nothing fancy. Side pockets, zippered front and a golden button enclosure.
Truth be told, you're primarily paying for the material and that golden button. Not worth $29 imo.
And saving the best for the last...
TEM Palm Print Romper in Size S (Exact same as Smooch's Notched Romper)
I adore this romper. I first saw it on Songoftstyle and fell in love. But the Topshop price kinda deterred me cos I knew that I'd probably wear it once, then run out of ideas how else to wear. Its not like a basic that you can reuse time after time.
But then, I found it at The Editor's Market for $20. (If you buy 6 pieces its $20, but honestly you just have to linger for a bit and you'll find people who are willing to combine with you.) I can't even.
The cut is lovely. I really love that subtle v-neck, the prints used and the material. The back is elastic banded (Its not really noticeable in the first place but if you're really nitpicky, you can cover it up with hair or a kimono/ slouchy cardigan!
I really love how it comes with pockets and is structured. I find it pretty plain just wearing the cardigan alone, so you can either pair it with a statement necklace (That pearl choker thing that seems to be in trend?) or a kimono or shrug (I paired it with TTR's Morning Breeze Chiffon Shrug and a Rare London Kimono) if you're also concerned about modesty, the cold etc.
PS: It also flatters the décolletage really well :DD
Its definitely a keeper, for this season at least.
Thanks for reading babes! And have a Happy National Day (in Advance)!
I'm a UK6/8 for tops. UK8 for bottoms. 1.6m tall
