Hi everyone!
Sorry for the late review: I actually got this last Saturday and took the pictures but never got round to editing them. This top is from Megagamie, about second most recent collection. I bought them from Kissjane Bugis, where all four colours were still available, mostly in M.
One problem I have with shopping with MGG is that they rarely state the material used in their item descriptions. I'm glad I got to try this on at KJ because the material is really lovely and soft-- I am guessing it's a polyester cotton mix, lined with a satin material. Another problem I have with MGG is that their item pictures are often shot in an avant-garde lookbook style that makes it difficult to zoom in on the design: for example, I didn't know until I went to KJ that the back of this top is an exposed gold zipper, covered by a placket, that unzips totally from top to bottom (hence it's mostly hidden, but the gold zip peeks out at the top). I found zipping it at the back quite difficult, however, and hence zipped up about an inch and wriggled into it top-down.
The wraps start below the bust and are positioned at the sides, so as stated on their website it can be tied at the sides or at the back. I found it best to wrap once around the front, around the back, and then bring both to the front again to tie in a double knot at the side. (A ribbon tie would stick out too much, whereas a double knot allows the wrap to drape freely down the side.) In the lookbook for the tangerine piece, it seems to have been wrapped around only once and tied in a big bow-- good for a looser look, I guess, whereas I wanted to emphasize the waist more.
One down-side to this top is that you really need a skirt that fits snugly high-waist so as to tuck it under the wrap and not expose any skin (I think exposing skin would detract from the classiness of the design, but I could be proven wrong). For example, I had the wild idea of pairing the tangerine piece with my tangerine Leighton midi from A for Arcade (above), but as the skirt is about 1" too big for me, I had to keep pulling it up, which wasn't very practical.
The collar is also quite high, and 'pokes' out at the back as you can see in my pictures. Overall I love this top for its directional design and material, but wish the collar were lower and length a little bit longer. It's only left in
tangerine online, but Dressabelle is launching a similar top in
nude and black tomorrow.
On a side note, I saw the Leighton midi in tangerine at KJ. Appears to be from second batch as there are no belt loops. I must comment that the colour seems off too. It is vividly orange at KJ, whereas the tangerine I own from batch 1 is more reddish in colour. Quite disappointed by this difference!
Hope this helps!
