I've been very lucky as of late. Managing to find many LB pieces that have been missing on the market for a really long time.
My friends think that makes me a vintage LB addict, because I love finding old LB pieces. LOL. But I feel older LB pieces are more appealing to me. So queer. Sometimes, I find LB pieces so overhyped that I feel compelled to jump on the bandwagon but LB's sizing issues and sometimes, poor materials (*cough lining cough*) kinda make me feel let down. Also, I feel that there's a higher chance of you meeting someone wearing the exact same piece as you when you go about town during weekends.
Some newer LB pieces are actually remakes of their timeless pieces IMO.
Case in point:
LB Alethea Dress Size XS
I would say this is the "original" Oregon Dress. Although Oregon Dress is single coloured, this is prints. It has the same directional pleats as Oregon, that flatters your body type and is also made of jersey cotton. Highly stretchy. I'm a big UK 8 and I thought it might be too small (Loved it so much I ignored the measurements lol) But having tried this and Oregon in Size M, i'd probably say that I'm a Size S for this particularly cutting. Worth hunting down if you don't already own an Oregon Dress/ Big Fan of Oregon's cutting.
LB Petite Aleia Toga Size M
This is part of LB's petite series. So the dress feels tighter on me than usual LB Size M. The material is excellent. Thick spandex lining that's pretty stretchable with ruched chiffon printed overlay. The draping technique of this dress kinda resembles the Zeira Lyle Series, although that's a bustier and this is a toga. The ruches do a decent job of hiding fats.
I'm still thinking if I should keep this for prom. What do you'll think? I feel this would fit a small UK 8/ UK 6 and below better. It appears overly body hugging for me (kinda like a bodycon) and I find myself having to worry about the decency of the length. But the material and the prints! Too pretty to resist. Sigh, seriously confused. I might consider selling this off. Email me at differentdna7@gmail.com if interested!
On a sidenote, hears a LP dress that I've not seen reviewed around here.
Lilypirates Serendipity Dress in White (Free-Size)
I had such high hopes for this dress. Felt it was very classy, especially with the crochet hem and could be styled to look super chic but yet feminine. But whilst I loved the hem, the top part of the dress I hated. Firstly, if you're not well endowed, skip this dress. The chest area definitely needs a larger PTP to fill IMO. (I think LP must have pinned the back of the dress for the model for better fit). It didn't want to stay up and the straps are far too long and show too much (No adjustable straps) Secondly, the completely irrelevant side crochet inserts that completely felt like an afterthought. Completely unncessary. I wished that they had edited the piece better, with better straps and removing unnecessary components of the dress. I can only think of wearing this to a beach with a bikini but even then... *sigh*
Wish LP would consider making a similar dress with a similar hem but changing the top part of the dress completely.
Thanks for reading and enjoy your weekend ahead!
I'm a UK 6/8 top, big UK 8 for bottoms. 1.6m tall.
