two shows in two nights
Friday was BRAND NEW at webster hall. I have not seen brand new since 04 ..i mean sure they havent really preformed since then.. but yeah the last time i saw them was in 04 at Roseland ..and that was huge..huge for them and to me. So here it was brand new at webster hall (not a huge place but big enough) 2 yrs later. I took steph with me.. because well she was the one that told me about them like 6 yrs ago..when i was like uh ok i guess ill go see this band because the stryder is playing and i like the stryder alot. And then brand new became and obession and i loved them.
but anyways, the show it was horrible!!!!! ..ok horrible is a bad word.. it wasnt horrible it just wasnt that good. Musically Brand New was good they were tight. They have become really great musicians.. but vocally???????? What has happened to Jesse? I dont know? I dont know what he is trying to do? Who he is trying to be? but he sure doesnt sound like himself. Maybe i want to go back to the old days? I dunno..but honestly I dont think thats it.. because to me he changes up every damn song and im just like what the hell are u doing man? are u from long island or are u from england ..? because i clearly remember u living 5 mins from me..not being from another continent. And he just talks all weird in between.. Granted, they have been playing these songs alot, but I mean I dont think the Rolling Stones change shit up that much...and they have been playing their songs for god knows how long..do u think people would want to hear rolling stones songs all weird if mick jagger decided to sing them all weird? no theyd be like what are u doing man? ...People want it teh way they know it. Hey I am not saying he cant take some artistic lisence with the songs he wrote and created and do things sometimes..but he was doing it with EVERY SONG!!!!! it was just too much.
I really only enjoyed soco ammeretto lim(e) haha.......hmmm seventy times seven... i liked the new song that it doesnt have a name...its Untitled 6.. I mean I dunno.. its really hard to say i liked songs specifically..meh . The shower scene I liked too because it was old and i felt like i just liked their energy then..jesse standing on the drums like he used to..and seventy times seven garrett and vin standing on things and jesse the drums again.. it was the old energy..
early in the day me and steph walked around alot..hah i ate at whole foods which was a joyous delight i want to live in there and eat and eat..haha.. then we walked all over the world for tasti delight for her..but she needed it bad. HA. After the show we went back to Union Square for some drinks and food at an outside food/bar place which was nice. Some drunk/homeless man told me I looked artsy and steph looked business like haha. Then he came back and told her he loved her..hahah.
Last night was BLOC PARTY. And they were awesome. I loved them. They were just like the cd. Every song..excellent. Loved it. Lorraine, esther , susan and I went. It was at Mccaren Park In Brooklyn.. Hipster central. But excellent cause all we did was walk from lorraine's apt. I liked the venue it was an old pool and they turned it a place for shows. It was hot that day but there was a nice breeze and we sat on the steps in the back part and watched. We got there when Mew was on ..I really liked Mew I wish it was switched and Mew was second and Secret Machines was first because I am not a big fan of them at all they are very generic .. and blah. The beer lines were craaaaaazy long there were like 3 beer lines and the lines wrapped around. But it was so worth it , so tasty and cold.
After Bloc Party we went back to the apt to cool off then headed to Old Tavern or something like that by West 4th for a few drinks..and then i headed home and just made the train by 1 min..i got a slice and peed in the grossest bathroom in penn well at the pizza place but i had to see bad! ..but thank god i did.
