Please forgive the Xmas icons but last post of the year, it's Xmas and I couldn't resist all the caps at thepicturepool. :)
Oh duh, differences - the biggest one is I backed away from fandom a lot and do a lot of stock because I love it a lot. I also see a lot of difference in my coloring, lighting and cropping but that's me. I feel that it's harder to color fandom, I still do it but not near as often as I used to. I really enjoy the stock even if others here don't care for it. I like where I am right now. I have seen myself getting better with texture use. I love to experiment with what the different ones do, how they work, etc so if something looks really cool and I love it, it stays.
I think it's cool to work with stock cuz it's the underdog in the icon community now. I remember how many pretty stock icons I used to see back when I first started on LJ 5 years ago. There are still tons of talented stock makers out there, so good for you for focusing your efforts more in that direction. Nothing wrong with that! (Nothing wrong with using textures either, obviously. TEXTURES ARE THE BEST.)
