I actually had a huge break between 2011 and 2012 because the two icon posts were almost a year apart, so my style had changed greatly. I had done many tumblr graphics before I started making icons again so I learned how to use PSD's and just my whole style had improved. Also getting into the spn elite comm and getting declined the first time helped a lot and I worked really hard to improve. So I have the other mods there to thank for my style improvement. Otherwise I think the biggest difference between these two is that my style actually developed into a style, because I never really had one, I just did whatever looked good to the icon. Well what I thought looked good, haha, but now it's turned more into a grungy and rough type of style with light jewel tones thrown in. I'm pretty pleased with my progress actually. Although sometimes I make it hard for myself because it's hard to do that kind of style when I absolutely love doing close crops.
Like I said to the person above you, close crops are tough for lots of us to achieve so if you excel at those, that's something to be very proud of! It's great that you're branching out to try and grasp new tones and develop your own grungy style, but those things can definitely be worked into close crops so try to merge them all together!
I am proud of my cropping skills because I know a lot of people have trouble with them, but idk why, but that was the first thing I excelled at. I'm glad I did though! But I will try adding my grunge into my close crop icons, it's a hard feat though I'll tell ya.
Don't think this gets you out of a proper progression post, young lady! You've committed. I have expectations now. Like...seriously. Also, can I tell you how much I love it when people who get rejected at elite communities take feedback on board and then pop back up twice as awesome as before and then we have to let them in because, well, duh? Like...that is one of my favorite things ever. So, I mean, I am thrilled that you were one of those cases, and that the feedback helped.
And, also, I am really in love with your black and white icons. Have I mentioned that? Like that last icon example? SO AWESOME. Just...I know you love your colors and experimenting and pushing the boundaries on your colors, but your black and white has a special place in my heart so fuck colors. Um. Not that I dislike the jewel tones in any way, shape, or form, okay? Just...black and white, you know? *.*
Close crops can be grungy! You just gotta keep practicing at it! It can be your icon resolution for 2013, okay? Okay. Awesome. =D
Ugh ugh I knew you were gonna say that, Sam, RUUDE. Haha, I know I was going to yesterday, but I ran out of time, today I will totally do it okay? I knew you were gonna like that I said about getting rejected, because you and Christina give like the best concrit, so tbh I was just happy to meet you two. One because you're amazing friends and stuff, and two because you are truly inspirational. ♥
Haha I think you've said this before about loving my black and white stuff, and haha you would have hated it back in the day when I wasn't so good, I never used to make black and white anything. I loved black and white stuff don't get me wrong, but I could just never get it right, it always looked..off. But haha glad I've gotten so good at it that it's your favorite, maybe I should just make a b/w icon post huh? ;)
Ugh ugh I knowww, and now on to making that damn progression post.
