Simply put, we operate out of either love or fear. And as Louise Hay puts it, the guru of self-healing, everything comes down to loving yourself. I have been on a personal quest of self-discovery that is leading me to uncover and discover that I am my own super hero. I'm here to help you start the year off right by doing the same through creative expression.
A new year is about fresh starts and introspection. This time of year, with Valentine's Day approaching, we are also bombarded with messages about giving gifts to others to show our love. It's time to take matters into our own hands and do it for ourselves. This positive, 2-day art retreat is about creating and giving a love gift to yourself while discovering that you are in fact the real gift.
Using the style of a gluebook for a jumping off point, you will transform an ordinary book into a visually rich artistic journal, creating visual and tactile layers with collage, painting and stamping. I'll teach you techniques to meld collaged items to be part of the page and how to layer paints to get a rich, textural surface. Many people let their fear of the blank page keep them from journaling. By preparing the book in advance, it is ready whenever you want to journal, with the colorful pages inspiring you to let it all out.
You will use this transformed book the next day as the foundation for your journaling and guided exercises, turning it into your book of love and personal exploration and discovery. This colorful book will be about yourself, for yourself. In this intimate setting, I'll lead you through various journaling and automatic writing exercises, using paint, markers, pens, rubber stamps, collage and personalized imagery, to create artful pages and visualizations about finding your true, vibrant self. You will push through the fear and other obstacles to find the bright light and love within. You'll go home not only artfully refreshed with a new love and appreciation for yourself, realizing that you too are your own super hero, but you'll also have a lovely book to continue working in on your path to abundant self-love and new art techniques you learned along the way.
No art or writing experience necessary--Just a willingness to be open to creative and personal exploration.
