So I am considering doing two semesters abroad instead of just the one I had planned on. I definitely want to do my semester in Cairo, that's still happening ( Read more... )

Leeds, Newcastle and Dundee are all quite far to the north of Britain, so it'd be kinda cold up there, especially in winter. Comparable to... Canada, maybe.

Dundee, Reading and Exeter are all older universities with about a century of history behind them.

While all universities (and university cities) are fairly multicultural, Kingston (being in London) would probably have the most variation. However London is terrible as far as I'm concerned, even though I live right next to it.

Really, though, if you're only coming for a semester then any of them will be fine. Probably.

Reading and Exeter are the ones I'm thinking about most seriously. The study abroad lady was trying to push Kingston, but I am not sold on it.

I'd like to visit London, for sure, but I'd like to see other places as well.

Anyone would push Kingston because hurble durble LURDURN. I could be wrong, of course, but it always seems to me that too many people love to push London as if it's the Goddamn ideal place to be in the entire British Isles, if not the world.

I mean it's like people in the States telling you that New York City is the only place to be ever, and it's so great, and everyone should live there.

Exeter is in a nice part of the country, and Reading is only a short train journey from London (if you must visit). To be quite honest I lost all my lustre for higher education after I got kicked out of university for having a medical condition, so maybe I'm not the best dude to ask.

The basic long and short of it is that nobody noticed my horrible problems and decided I was just being lazy instead, and bam out the door I go with a debt to rival most third world nations and no degree.
