Lupin had felt Goemon's presence since he'd first walked out to sit, but ignored him for a little while in the throes of his work. He'd always told his grandfather that he was an inventor at heart, perhaps a mechanic on one of those off-days when nothing creative entered his mind.

He glanced over at the deck, noticing the other turret sitting hot next to Goemon's rumpled hakama, and smirked at the humor of it all. He looked back at his current job.

"Goemon, did you see where I put that other gun??"

Lupin laughed despite himself, hand clasped over his head in a gesture of playfulness on his part. It was funny to see the differences in big and little Goemon, some minor, some extreme. The rosy face of his new ronin was a very peculiar change that he would enjoy nonetheless, even in the graveness the boy's situation. Lupin still wasn't so sure if the boy would change back, but at that point he'd assured himself that everything would continue on happily.

"Lesson one, Goemon-chibi-san: if it's made of metal and sitting in the sun, be wary of its temperature." He pointed a wrench at the boy, his voice akin to someone telling a horror story. "Remember this lesson for as long as you live, because if you don't, you might burn off a whole finger!"

Lupin rubbed his chin, and then climbed up the side of the deck like the monkey people mocked him often about, taking a place next to Goemon with his hand on his knee; his face mimicked innocent curiosity. "That's a good question... I was kidding, but I'm guessing we can see if it does."

He made a daft jab at the turret with his finger, and the moment he did, he pulled back with a pained cry--the index finger he used was gone, apparently seared away.

"Eyaaaaaaaaah, I guess I wasn't kidding!!!"

However, after a moment, he poked the supposedly missing finger back up.

"Oh, nevermind!" he grinned.

Lupin closed his eyes and smiled, clearly proud of the terror he'd made the poor boy feel--in his experience a kid needed that little fright every so often, as his grandpa had done the same to him. And maaaan, he loved getting the crap scared out of him as a boy. Kept him on his toes, and even the terror of the moment had passed him, he was too excited to be upset.

As he recalled the fun things his grandfather had taught him, he started little magic tricks, popping flowers out his sleeve and making a string of napkins appear out of the tip top of his fingertips. "I picked them up from Pépé when I was a wee boy. I didn't have much else to do since my dad was always trying to make me study."

He spoke while popping fake hands off his wrists and turning them into poofs of confetti, and when was finished with his little chat he snapped his fingers so that they popped into little bursts of light like firecrackers.

"As it just so happens, I'm quite the magician--could've been a professional if I wanted to~!"

Lupin slapped his hands together, his lanky legs crossed over eachother. "Eeeeeh, Goemon-chan, you're amazing! I bet you could do some really great coin and card stuff if you practiced them. Samurai don't know enough magic tricks, you know? If you practice them and your swordsmanship, you'll be a force to be reckoned with! A hit with the other samurai, for sure."

Nodding his head, he crossed his arms and looked as though he were 1,000 percent right. "You gotta' have a little fun, even if you're in a deadly situation! That's why its always important to fight with a little smile and a few sleights of the hand. Or the foot, or even the knee. Your opponent will be so confused, you'll have the upper advantage for sure."
