Seasonal Arcana silliness: Tarot Hearts!

Dec 26, 2013 18:10

Merry Christmas to all that celebrate it and Happy New Year to all that follow the Gregorian calendar (a fine one if I say so myself).

In a feat of misdirected productivity, kamalloy and I have figured out how to reimagine Arcana using indie RPGs Monsterhearts and Apocalypse World. Monsterhearts in particular attempts to provide a supernatural angst-rich high school setting, albeit one with more of a romance angle than the Arcana investigative/survival horror vibe.

If anyone would care to play around with char-gen, perhaps as a way of exploring either system, I'd enjoy playing with the systems some more. It might be fun as a mechanical basis for the odd Neo-Arcana session, although that's higher level and should probably only come after getting one's head around how to do the starting characters.

Obviously we aren't going to rerun even an OVA of Arcana, but it might be fun to figure out ways that modern systems can support bringing the best parts of Arcana to future games.
