Genesis Legacy, Part 17 (NLC)

The esteemed reader may also be interested in this, the Genesis Family Tree. Heirs have photos (and hence the little camera beside their names) and to get to the second half of the tree one must click on Milcah Genesis.

When last we met, Moses Genesis, eightth generation of the dynasty of Genesis begot by Adam Genesis when the world was young and following his lineage through Seth Genesis, Adah Genesis, Noah Genesis, Milcah Genesis, Isaac Genesis, and Rachel Genesis his mother, had left the Greek House of Genesis on the Sim State University Campus. There he had let his love, Amy, in the arms of another man, for though she did love him, Moses' anger was too great to heed her apology.

Directly he returned, Moses did betake himself to the community lot, not to replace his traitorous Amy, but to distract himself from her betrayal.

There did he pass some not entirely comforting hours playing chess with the newly wed Frances El Sabar, who wouldst not shut up about her wife.

Meanwhile, back at the house did the Lady speak unto Ian, and said she:
Lady: Ian, thy wife has been unfaithful to you. Another man did uncover her nakedness and get on her a child, that one which you know as your son Moses.
Ian: What? When? Why??? WHAT?

And Ian did confront Rachel, and filled with sorrow he was. Though his initial wish was to be shed of her entirely, he did love her deep, and loved he also her deep pockets (for so was it writ in his very nature). But he couldst not forgive her.

Moses, as thou mightst imagine, was of mixed feelings. Not only was it known now that Ian was not his father, but his mother had committed that very same act that had recently torn his own heart asunder.

But Moses found it in his heart to forgive her, for she was his mother, his protector, and the only person whom he knew loved him unreservedly.

As the loading screen did indicate, times were troubled in the House of Genesis.

Meanwhile was Moses still refusing to speak to Amy, though she did call him a couple of times.

He spent his days in the pursuit of knowledge, and his nights gazing at the heavens, knowing not what he wished to see... something to give him faith, to make him believe in the Lady God and Her Salvation, mayhap.

Moses did claim for himself a store room, and in it he placed a desk and computer, and all the books he could find. And spent he so many days and nights wrapped in seclusion that his hair did grow long and unruly, and a beard began to cover his chin.

And in the other corner was there a machine on which Moses did conduct dark experiments with viruses and human flesh.

But Fate has ways of punishing those who meddle in her affairs. One day, as Moses did conduct an experiment, there sounded an immense crash, and the glass of the machine did shatter.

Moses' face had cuts laid all across it.

Though most of the cuts did heal, one, across his eye, did not, and Moses knew he would bear it forever.

But his frightening experience did get him to thinking. About his mother and Ian, and about Amy.

And he did soak long and hard in a bath (in sooth, his first in days) and came he to a decision.

Directly he was dressed, he went to the phone, and called his beloved.

When he did ask her to meet him at a restaurant, there was a long silence on the phone before she did agree. They reunion was awkward. Moses did fear that Amy would recoil from his gaunt features and scarred visage.

And Amy did know her knees quaked with nerves. For knew she not what the Moses, so changed from her sweet clean-shaven beau, would have to say to her.

Mores did order, bespeaking for both of them the salmon dish, for knew he well that it was Amy's favourite.

Amy, in gratitude, did put her hand over Moses' on the table, the action coming natural to her, without thinking. To her very great relief, Moses did not recoil from her touch, but instead smiled shyly at her. That smile, which she remembered so well, reassured her that it was indeed her beautiful Moses under the new visage.

They dined, keeping up a flow of small-talk, but after the meal, Moses seemed to get tense. Amy feared that he was angry, but when he produced a black box, her heart did leapt into her throat. (A/N: As did mine. I was so happy that these two were together, I was sniffling)

(A/N: a quick digression! This was the heir of the first legacy I ran at about the time I abandoned it. A string of very bad spousal decisions [Brandon Lillard, Marisa Bendett, Calista the Gardener] resulted in children so hideous I couldn't bear to play them anymore. ... And now back to our scheduled programming!)

Moses was equally nervous. Although he had resolved to make his feelings known to Amy, he knew not how hers had changed. Maybe she was happy with That Noah Fellow, or maybe she just simply loved him not. He could not tell form her expression. But faith, if Amy's face was blank, it wasn't doubt, but a joy so extreme as to be inexpressable that filled her.

Wordlessly, she took the ring and slid it on her finger.

And that was that. Outside the restaurant, Moses did sweep her off her feet and into a kiss most passionate. There were no words of apology or regret; they were not needed when two souls met and became complete.

Amy did return to the Greek House of Genesis to pack up her things.
Amy: Noah!! Guess what!!
Noah: Sweetie? What? How did your meeting with Moses McKnobhead go?
Amy: He proposed!! We're getting married this afternoon!!1!111

And Amy did leap into Noah's arms one last time (for mind you, Moses forbade such gestures fearing they would put out his back).

Noah: Sugar, that's fantastic! Go pack your stuff! Right ow!! And don't forget to invite me to the wedding.
Amy: Thbbtt, only if Moses MY FIANCEE says I can!

Noah: Hrm, just me, in this big ol' house. ... Lady, how long does it take for a generation to grow up again?
Lady: Fear thee not, Noah, for thee it shall pass verily in a heartbeat.
Noah: Good good.

That very afternoon did Moses call all his closest friends and invite them to attend his wedding party. He even trimmed his stubble so as to look presentable for his beloved. Reluctantly did he also invite his two eldest siblings, feeling as he did that his parents could only benefit from seeing then (A/N: I would have had him invite Ramses, who I know has some fans XD, but it wasn't even an option o_O).

Moses: Come on dearest, let's get this over with.
Amy: Darling, do try to channel some kind of romantic spirit, yes?
And did Moses prove his romantic soul by kissing her hand and leading her to the wedding arch.

And there, while their friends and family assembled, did Moses and Amy recite their vows.

And afterwards, before the party was even finished, did they consummate their union.

Amy, fearing her hairdo was unrescuable after the rough treatment that it had received, did brush it and tie it back simply before donning once again her wedding gown.

And yes, they did enjoy their honeymoon very much.

But afterwards did very little change. Moses' stubble grew back, and he devoted many hours to his experiments in his locked room.

Amy did feel his lack, for she was pregnant, and growing vaster every day.

And her mother-in-law, who was trim and toned whilst Amy looked like a beached whale and had put on pounds besides the baby mass, could not help but be a thorn in Amy's side. For Rachel was not reconciled with her husband, and though she tried not to let it affect her, it was at times impossible not to resent her happy, pregnant daughter-in-law.

Ian, on the other hand, did find solace in the new life growing within Amy, for though he knew it would not be his child by blood, still would he raise it as if it were his own, and love it, and would it perhaps salve his wounded heart.

For he was still wounded at Rachel's betrayal.

Soon enough, Amy's time came. After a labour that was a painless as befitted one so beloved of the Lady as Amy, she held in her arms, her firstborn daughter, whom when named Zipporah

(A/N: but I like to call Zippy!).

But then her pains did not cease, and moments later she was delivered of a son, Gershom (A/N: who shall be known as Ducky, for reasons that become clear later!).

Amy was determined to recover her pre-beby weight.

But no sooner had she done so then the started to grow round with child once more. Yea verily did Moses manage to emerge from his den of science for long enough to get his child on his wife once more, for none but he had uncovered her nakedness since they were wed.

And whilst the family did revolve around the infants, Ian did find himself grown grey and bent with age, and when he did look to his wife, he found her the same. But was she still beautiful in his eyes and in his heart which was filled with such joy that there was no room for anger.

Ian: will you embrace me, wife? We have been estranged for too long.

Rachel did attempt to make amends.
Rachel: I'm sorry Ian, it was a fit of madness, I never saw him again afterwards, it was the Lady's fault.
Ian: The Lady moves in mysterious ways, Rachel. She did bring you to me and me to you, do you think She would allow your transgression if it weren't in Her plan?
This thought, in sooth, was not entirely reassuring to Rachel.
Rachel: But I did something really bad, and I just want to say I'm sorry...

Ian: Then embrace me like I requested, woman!
And they did embrace.

And shall we leave the house of Genesis in harmony, where what was broken has now been mended, and new life does balance that which ebbs away from our elders?

Or shall we bide a little, and wait until the children of Genesis grow up, before we take our leave?

For little Zippy and Ducky are nearing their birthday.

And did Moses manage to emerge again from his cave to celebrate with his wife the birthday of their firstborn children.

Zipporah, aka Zippy!

Gershom, aka Ducky (and faith, dost the rationale for such a moniker not become clear?)!

Zippy again!

Ducky again!

NEXT TIME: Amy's pregnant again, remember? She'll have that baby and perhaps more! Moses will do his lurkin' thing, Amy will attempt to have a career, the elders will get older but not die and consequently the house will get really full. Also, there will be birthdays. If any of this surprises you, let me know. :p
