over the weekend

over the week, i was having an art slump, so no new stuff for the time being till i get inspired to continue again.

I did however, take a day off out of the house, and went with Erika to visit the new riding place at Turf City. I think it was called Gallop Stables. Since the place doesnt require membership, we were hoping that it'd be a place where we could rent a horse for leisure riding outside the polo club, so we decided to check out what they could offer. I also needed to check their prices for riding helmets anyway.

Getting to Turf City was one thing. We were misled that there was a shuttle bus at AMK hub, only to find out it had terminated and we needed to go toa payoh instead. It was frustrating to realise that it was right next to the 163 stop as well..and the frequency was every half an hour. But we got the shuttle bus anyway, and off we went.

It was not hard to find, though the design of the other shops around it were questionable. For example, the flower shop was called "horse garden" and the Yoga dojo(?) had sillouettes of horses below it. No relation whatsoever, except that the stables were a few shops down the lane....and well, its located in turf city.

Aside from the mess that was at the pony ride booth, i'd say it was a rather neat place, but its hospitality and shop staff left a lot ot be questioned. We stepped into the area where all the equipment was being stored and displayed on their sale shelfs, but two steps into the room, we were stopped as if not allowed to enter, and (to me)not exactly asked in the most friendlist way what we were looking for. They also cant seem to tell what are chaps by looking at them, and cant remember helmet prices when there is only ONE price. hmmm.. pity. the shopped looked nice, just that the service wasnt.

At the reception we also asked about their prices and such and well, the lady at the counter practically just read to us their flyer, and still didnt look very sure what she was looking at. we might as well have just read it ourselves. Also, they are very smart cause in order to ride there, you'd need to spend an extra $28 for their t-shirt(uniform?). I secretly wished i wore the capitano t-shirt that day. So apprently, no trail riding for us, from what we read, and the price was pretty steep anyway. $80 per person exclusive of the t-shirt and GST for 45mins. However, i'm not complaining, cos this is singapore and i bet the polo club wouldnt have charged cheaper either. I just kind of sad and disappointed that we went all this way, and we werent even allowed to go in and view the stables. Its off limits to non-students. I regretted not lying to them and asking them if we could get a tour as we were intrested to join. Surely you'd let prospective clients view your facilities? well, even so, it might not have worked anyway, but i would have wanted to give it a try. After all, we travelled far and wide to find the place. We watched a pony class for a while, while eating Mahmee, amusing ourselves at how the pony was screwing with the kid. Then we left and went to orchard, since there was nothing left for us to do there.

I went kino to get some comics and seriosly overspent. but i think they increased the price again? I think the cost of one jap comic increased by almost a dollar. The last time i bought it was $9.60, then $9.90 now $10.70? The yen isnt going that high now isnt it? the last time i check it was still lower than 1.6...

After kino, we had dinner at Sushi tei and shared a Kami Nabe. i like to call it Kani Kami Nabe, cause of the 2 crab legs it has. yummy. Plus we found yet another similarity between ourselves aside from mahmee and pau skin- our love for chawanmushi. banzai!

Also, i watched Wrestlemania 25 and Saraba Den-o. :P Gotta love wwe. i especially enjoyed the money in the bank ladder match, and Santina made me laugh so bad. It was all nice and flashy, like how wwe has always been:) Saraba Den-o was a silly movie that i just watched for fun cos kamen rider is fun to watch. hahhaha. its like power rangers but a little less cheesy. Its silly why they'd call it Saraba when they obviously still have not milked enough $$$ out of the franchise.
