It has been really amazing to come home. It will be hard to top and has been the best visit yet. I spent the day waking up really slow after some bizarre dreams (hookers and a marriage proposal?!) and went for an early afternoon walk with my mom and the dogs. Rachel came home shortly after and I went on a shopping venture for bras and work shoes (success!). She plans to secretly work with me to get her permit and license without telling my parents. I can't even believe how much I have missed her until we spent some one-on-one time. I often forget how amazing she can be.
Came home and Emily was feeling jealous. We ate dinner without Rachel (she ditched us for Mikuni) and played taboo with my parents. We are a pretty ridiculous family and fiercely competitive. My favorite was when Em and I were on a team and my hint was "boys do this to my skin" and Emily shouted "hickeys!"
Later, I decided to look up some districts to apply to, only to be advised to apply to 50 or so (yikes). Had too much peppermint bark and decided to take Emily out to Barnes and Noble for a book hunt. Dissatisfied with the book I had read about, I instead looked for a good book to learn sign language. Emily and I decided that this was a winning option since she had made fun of me earlier about it (I told Em and my mom about how two of my former teachers worked with students who sign, and how one group of kids were signing to 'silent night'--I totally missed that obvious joke) We now know how to say "I want popcorn" and "beautiful rainbow" haha
The best part of the night was going upstairs and hanging in rere's room. It's rare that you will find us three willingly doing something--anything--together without being asked. Raych gave a mini fashion show of her new (never ending) collection of stuff, while Emily and I sat on the floor signing and writing messages on Raych's mirror doors with puff paints. When I got bored and rummaged through her endless boxes, bins, bags, and piles of stuff, I scored some never used smelly markers, clear tape, a large pink pencil, an emory board with rainbow hearts, and a wand. Magical :)
In general, my time back has been pretty amazing. Sleeping in, working on my memory books for my kids, slowly working on my math unit I need to teach when I get back, seeing old teachers and meeting with my second grade teacher who is the reason why I am teaching in the first place, a nice brunch with my mom at amore, and mini craft projects. I really could not ask for a better family or place to live. The only thing that could make it more perfect would be seeing Kat (taking that trip to Napa with Paul) and having Julio come up. I miss that booger :)
