So what...your a FURRY!

I recieved the biggest surpise this Christmas Eve. As always, the family makes it's annual migration inward to spend a little Christmas cheer. Tis the season for lighted trees, apple cider, the smell of scotch tape while wrapping gifts. WELL, I was wrapping gifts with my sister (aka, the master wrapper), and I was talking to her about this special girl that I have been seeing for a week or so...

(FLASHBACK two days prior) Erin is the name of this wonderful girl, we have so much in common. I suppose French Horn is the biggest thing (we're both semi-pro hornist....something like that). Like all young persons getting together after the initial so called "date", we were talking about the common stuff...what do you like to do, what's your favorite music...yadi, yadi. Well, I'm a secure dude and I said to her that I was "into costuming."
"Oh?' she said, "what kind?"
"Animal costumes, it's like...er..."
"So your a furry."
I sat there a bit dazed. She said it in a way that made it seem like common place in any mundane conversation. Shaking my head a bit out of a stupor "Yeah...a bit."
"Yeah, I know furries,... my roommate was a wolf...you tead to know things like these as a music major..."
We must have talked for an hour about "furry": I, trying to keep it real and interesting at the same time retaining my 'manliness', she on the other hand thought it was very cool...to the point of envy.
That night ended with a big smile spread across my lupine face as I left her place. How cool is it to meet a girl who likes furries!

(FLASHFORWARD back to wrapping gifts with my sister) Beth is the name of my sister. She is the younger of the two older sisters that I have, and the more mundane of the two so to speak. In my mind, from the first time I established myself as 'furry', she would be one of the last to know; seeing anything out of the norm to be weird and never spoke of again. So I was talking about Erin and I said, I quote "she understands that special thing that I do..."
Beth's replys "...that you a furry."

I never heard a 'squik' before until that very moment as every contour of my coily brain matter broke apart at once to recombine into a oozing grey mass of "WHAT THE F***!!!"

The first words that trickled out of my quivering lips were something on the lines of "how...how did ya know?" She went on to explain how she got the news one month ago from my other sister, who got it from one of her friends, that was told by my roommate (who I sometimes wear a tail around). Beth, who I feared most of all, for my family's good name, knew. And She Was Cool With it! And for once in my life, I have actual family support.

Beth always knew I was a bit on the wolfish side but the news of my furriness acutally came as no big surprise. The conversation ended with my complete dumbfoundedness, and the topic was never brought up the rest of the Christmas celabration...until she told me that she was about to buy me some fur for Christmas to make paws, in which my reply was "I already have a fursuit..."

The End!
