The Morning After...

May 09, 2011 17:39

Berwald opened his eyes, the sun was up, but not shining this rainy gray morning. Even the skies reflected how he felt. Tino was curled up in the chair beside his bed, one hand resting on Berwald's arm. Well, he presumed that greenish blur in the red chair was Tino, he knew how that hand felt on his skin. God, what a mess his life was right now.

"You are my family. You're all I have Askling." Berwald said... tasting that word SPOUSES on his mind and LONGING for it.

"It's really just formality sweetie. This are just basic discharge papers. You're acknowledging he has his release orders and prescriptions. And you do." She said handing Tino copies of what he just signed.

"The orderly will be here in just a minute with the wheelchair. I have your crutches here." She said handing those to Tino too.

The wheelchair arrived before the nurse finished talking and the large man helped the even larger teen into the wheelchair.

"To the car park or the Trolley pick up?" The orderly asked as he wheeled Berwald to the elevator.

"Trolley. We don't have a car.... yet. I'm going to fix that too." Berwald grumbled hating the fast blur of images past his eyes. It made him sea sick.

So he closed them until they arrived at the Trolley stop just outside the entrance.

"Let's hope I don't smash my nose too falling trying to get on the Trolley with this leg." Berwald mumbled as he sat on the bench with Tino to wait for the next Trolley.

Tino chortled. "Just hold onto me. I'll be your seeing eye dog. When the time comes I'll tell you when to step." He smiled, he made a mental note to find out what was going on with the other four members of their clan. Now that Berwald was starting to seem like he was getting better, or at least approaching stable with having a project on his mind, the Finn began his worrying over his friends. He hoped they were okay and healing.

"I'm not worried about being blind so much as MAKING that step Buttercup. I can't bend my leg." Berwald said as the Trolley pulled up.

"Here goes nothing." He sighed as he hopped over to the Trolley.

Handing Tino his crutches he grabbed hold of the Trolley boarding rail. Carefully put his weight on his bad leg, and man that hurt like HELL, but he was able to find the step with his good leg and step up.

"HOLY HELL. I am buying a car the second we get home. Ouch." Berwald grumbled as Tino led him to a seat and he collapsed into it.

Tino scooted on over, but didn't take a seat, he would rather leave the seat open for elderly people and ladies with babies that they were probably bound to encounter along the way. "Now I wish I wasn't so much younger than you. I can't drive, if I could I could chauffeur you around." He didn't have a legal driver's license, as in Finland you have to be 18. That was going to be a ways away.

"I can drive. I took a course here when I was 16 and got my license over the summer using a rental car. It was something to occupy my time really, I was bored. Now I'm glad I did. I can move my feet just fine. I'm dreading two flights of steps." Berwald said grimacing.

They were moving... pronto.
