A Due South Birthday Fic for Two Lovely People.

May 12, 2008 06:24

I tried to find the time to write one each, but RL ganged up on me, so I'm afraid it's one between these two lovely ladies who make fandom such a pleasure to me. Happy Birthdays keerawa and malnpudl. May your coffee cups never run dry and your inspiration never fail you ( Read more... )

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I love this! Poor reluctant Fraser, he's so lucky to have Ray. I'll add this to my I-need-a-happy-ending-fic list.

My kind of story, with Ray taking the lead, letting Fraser know it's okay to love and be loved. Great way to start the day, thanks.

This is wonderful! Mal, I'll take custody at the weekends, if that's okay. Fraser is such as mess, but that's okay, because Ray knows it, and is there to push hoim where he needs to go.

I love your descriptions of Ray, his body language, his movement, as Fraser forces himself to be more and more still.

This was particularly amazing: Holding an aroused Ray Kowalski, Fraser discovers, is like attempting to contain the wind - frustrating, confusing and ultimately futile. He stills when Fraser wants him to move: he rolls when Fraser wants him immobile: he lingers too long, watching him with that incredulous smile and he pulls away too soon when Fraser wants his mouth.

Hello, Birthday Girl! Sorry it was late - I didn't even want to tell you it was on the way because I just wasn't sure I was going to finish it... at all! *is made of fail lately*

And you picked my favourite paragraph! *hands you cookies* I was really proud of that one.

I'm so relieved you liked it, K - thank you for your lovely comments and for being such a warm, dependable friend.

Oh, Berty, this was so fabulous! I do so love these Post-CotW stories (you can NEVER have too many of them!) and this was so beautifully written. I adore your Fraser voice to pieces: you really nail his diction and his vocabulary is always, y'know, Fraser-ish, but not overblown.

And Ray! Beautiful, brave, observant Ray! He's terrific here, and I love the bit keerawa pointed out above, too. It's such a perfect description of our scruffy Chicago detective.

I had to comment on this, too: you do such a great job establishing the fact that their friendship and their connection on that level is really important to both of them in this story. When the sex happens, it grows out of that, and it's just gravy on top of their special groove. I'm always so impressed when authors are able to build on their connection as friends (it's something I'm still struggling with) and you illustrated that very well. Brilliant stuff as always, m'dear, and Mal and Peaches are very, very lucky birthday girls.

Hello! And thank you! You always write such lovely things - they're better than my fics! And you can share the cookies I gave to K for spotting my favourite paragraph.*g*

Oh, I love this story. I love Ray in this, so brave. And Fraser, trying the Ray method...

And how much do I love that Ray had prepared himself? Heh...
