Picture yourself young and playful, praticing karate or playing with a basketball in the house, maybe even tracking in mud on the clean white carpet. So you break a vase, it's one of your mom's favorite, a priceless hierloom. You try your best to hide it but she still finds out, so what's the first thing she says? WHO broke my vase? Not what ( Read more... )

I always enjoy reading other people's views about politics, probably because there are only a handful of issues that I genuinely care about, and I enjoy being a sponge of sorts that absorbs what everyoen thinks. And after reading that (which was well-written by the way), I agree with what you have to say. Especially that peer-pressure is hardwork. Because I'm straight edge and it's not always been easy.

we could never even begin to emulate the japanese culture. sure, productivity and work-output have been maximized, but at the cost of what? the japanese don't own anything. they don't own their houses, usually no car(s), i mean, they own manga, games, and ohashi, but, if you live in the city, you don't own your living quarters, and never will. americans could never do this. the wages are nowhere near as great as ours, and considering the woman takes the "traditional" role and does 'rejio taiso' (radio taiso- a daily stretching program required by most factories/schools/places of work) and earns her less than 20k a year salary, while the family struggles to support 2-3 kids and the father works a 'middle-salaried' job, i mean...it's ridiculous, did michael underline that? another thing to point out, if you think "prejudice" is bad here, in japan, most people won't say anything, but it is always aparent that one is a 'gaijin' and will never be japanese, and will never understand the culture, or so they think, and this is said ( ... )

Actually the book does point out all of that, about how the japanese are extremely racist and live radicaly different...it talked about how they "grow up quicker" because the nation never accepted a wide spread religion.(not sure how true that is) I didn't really mean for Americans to change to a more Japanese kind of culture but to have more dedication in what they do. :) Thanks for the feedback though man! I'm coming soon! haha oh and in sundays paper their was a negative article concerning Bush's economic policys and here is the first paragragh.
"In recent months the Bush administration has bristled over criticism that the U.S. economic recovery is both jobless and depedent on Americans working longer and harder."
When J.F.K said the whole ask not what your country can do for you but what you can do for your country...he was a hero. It just seems to me we are getting lazier by the day.
