My Rise to....Success?

I Know Everything

Take a second and stare at the gigantic brain behind my forehead,
full of hard earned uncanny knowledge and wisdom.
You see, I’m a teenager, and I know everything.

I know why the grass is greener on the other side,
because you’re to concerned with it..
I know why cows give milk and not juice,
because I make them.
I know why the sky is blue,
I just don’t want to tell you.
I know the secret to life,
it’s just irrelevant to living.
You see, I’m a teenager, and I know everything.

I know how to wrap a word with all the light from the sun and the stars to make it shine, but
I know how to coil every syllable in utter hatred, so the spectrum consist of black.
I know how to speak rapidly to make sure you listen that much harder but
I know how to slow it down so it...sinks in.
You see, I’m a teenager, and I know everything.

I know how to declare war with an expression, but
I know how to change the face of humanity by smiling.
I know how to beatbox, rap, and rhyme so I sound cool, and
I know how to strut when I walk to make a statement.
You see, I’m a teenager, and I know everything.

I know how to use my past to change my present, and
I know how to use my present to change my future.
I know how to like, slur and stuff, when I like, talk to my friends; but
I know how to pronunciate with articulation as I recite a poem
You see, I’m a teenager, and I know everything.

I know how to drive fast and get away with it, and
I know how to look extremely occupied as I do nothing.
I know how to revolve around the world, even though
I know the world revolves around me.
You see, I’m a teenager, and I know everything.

I know how to look in the mirror and not worry about what I see, because
I know how to spell, not-self conscious, not-self conscious, not-self conscious over and over until it becomes evident.
I know how to stereotype you while you stereotype me because I’m just 17 and what would I know about life,
But can’t you see, I’m a teenager, and I know everything.

Lifeless

Wake up,
Roll out of bed and scratch the dust from your eyes,
Get ready, it’s a brand new day.

Stuff your face with
Captain Crunch, Fruit Loops, or Cheerios;
for the more health conscious it’s a Nutrigain bar and orange juice
but the people that are REALLY on top of life
just skip breakfast and get straight to what matters.

Don’t it just feel good to be alive?

Brush your teeth, fix your face, gel your hair;
Make sure all of THIS matches perfect (clothes)
and THIS looks just right (face)
so THIS doesn’t have to factor in. (Brain)

Look to the mirror, at the mirror,
in the mirror, FOR the mirror;
smile, frown, or scream
depending on how much you buy into the hand that feeds you.
Pack your stuff, grab your things and walk out the door.

Don’t it just feel good to be alive?

First hour.
Read, write, and ...learn, about ...nothing.
Drift off to sleep, but not until
you copy your homework for next class
because the only idea worth remembering is how to forget.

Walk the halls, scuff your shoes,
wrap around the concrete
watching, waiting, warning,
with the
like you know’s, what if’s, could be’s, the almost nearly thought I

Don’t it just feel good to be alive?

Borrow a dollar, steal a quarter, cut in line.
Run laps in grease, tidbits of...I guess its chicken,
salted tasteless plastic, fake fruit flavored water
and mingle like hyenas, scavengers scavenging for an easy victim.
Pick a person, point, laugh, repeat
Pick a person, point, laugh, repeat.
Pick a person, point, laugh, repeat.
Forget about yourself, your group, your point of view, your life.
Pick a person, point, laugh, repeat.

Don’t it just feel good to be alive?

Watch the hour, minute, second hands tick away like
did you hear about Sally and Greg?
They ...got together, fell in love, then broke up, parted ways
and fell into the same situation with a different face
except this time, that time, now and then, they were meant to be together.

Fall into line as the bell rings.
Switch, click, turn it off, its done.
You’ve used enough thought power for the day.
Move people out of your way.
Speed like where your going is important
and still get there late.

Don’t it just feel good to be alive?

Sink down on the cushion like a potato.
News, more Americans died but its unimportant
so turn the channel.
American Idol, Survivor, Friends, C.S.I., Real World, Road Rules
Did you see what happened on The O.C. last night?
Or were you to busy trying to figure out if
Jessica Simpson has a brain?

Call a friend.
What up, like what ya’ doing?
Grab a keg, Smoke a blunt.
Look cool, feel cool
as you pass out drooling,
still unable to realize your ALIVE, but LIFELESS.

Wake up,
Roll out of bed and scratch the dust from your eyes,
Get ready, it’s a brand new day.
