Jolly dreary out today, I daresay.  Not much for rain, myself; doesn't suit well with the old Wooster complexion, you see, but there we are.  Such are the travails a gentleman must endure when he is prone on taking long walks in the countryside.  But then, when one is staying at Totleigh Towers, any amount of rain is preferable to the insufferable ( Read more... )

I believe you will find, sir, that the article which you have described above lends itself to images of the lower-class members in New York society.

Hardly fitting for someone of a respectable nature, sir.

Tchah, Jeeves! Piffle. And what experience do you have with lower-class New York society that you might judge my hats next to theirs? It's all the rage down at the Drones, anyway. Bingo Little's after a beazel who works for some fashion magazine or another and according to him, this sort of thing is high fashion. What say you to that?

While Mr. Little has many admirable qualities, I would be hesitant to consider an eye for aesthetics and fashion among said qualities.

I am also reluctant to place much trust in Mr. Little's current conquest without knowing more of her background and education in fashion, but considering her opinion of the item in question, I would say that her opinion is... questionable.

Jeeves! Quite frankly, I'm shocked; I don't mind telling you. Bingo, I'll admit, isn't the brightest of eggs, but passing judgment on a female before you've even met her? I'd thought you a better man than that, Jeeves.

I am sure the woman is one of the upright and respectable sort, sir; do not mistake me. I merely voice hesitance to trust her eye for fashion, considering her approval of the hat.

Hmph. Well, I say. I'm keeping the hat anyway, you know. We Woosters have a will of adamant; we're not the sort easily swayed, whether by valet or no.

You have a way of saying 'As you say, sir,' Jeeves, that suggests that it is anything but what I say. A tone with a distinct hint of soupiness to it. Do try and curb that in future, won't you?

Very good, sir.
