I have a lot of projects I am working on and trying to get finished, but being extremely nauseous 24 hours a day has put a crimp on my previously productive lifestyle. After working all day, when I get home all I want to do is lie dormant on the couch, trying not to move or vomit...the weekends are a little better, but I'm still making slow progress on everything, making for boring blogging. I'm finishing up a t-shirt quilt, and working on a
One-Skein-Wonder for myself since I figure it's something that will fit now, and when I start to get bigger. It's about half done.
I'll be on vacation all of next week, so hopefully I can get some beach knitting done and I'll have something to show when I get back.
Today I offer pictures of the yarns that I have accquired over the last week. I am SO on a yarn diet now! I've only ever knit ONE pair of socks, and yet I cannot stop with the sock yarn...I've gotta get my knitting production back up before I can justify anymore yarn purchases.
Maybe someday the sun will come out again and I'll be able to get some decent pictures(srsly, it's been raining here in Massachusetts for like 3 months solid...enough!)I bought a light tent so I could take better indoor pics, but I need to get a couple brighter lights to make it really work well...anyway...
First we have some surprise yarn I received this weekend from the wonderful and generous
never1eighty! She sent me some stunning hand painted sock yarn made by the UK company
Fyberspates! As a sock yarn collector, I am so excited to try out a yarn that is not readily available in this country! She picked the *perfect* colorway for me, a beautiful bright pink & orange! It looks like it was custom painted to match my user pic! She also sent a beautiful beaded bracelet that I love and am wearing today, AND my very favorite brand of chocolate, Green & Black's Organic! Mmmmmm. Thank you so much Phoe; it made my weekend!
Next,
Blue Moon Fiber Arts recently came out with a new line of colorways for their "Socks that Rock" line and I couldn't resist the "Lemongrass" shade:
Grumperina has been raving about this particular handpainted cotton/lycra sock yarn from
Greenwood Fiberworks so I wanted to try some out. This is the Ruby Red Grapefruit colorway and I think it will make for really nice summer socks!
Next we have some gorgeous sock yarn from the talented Dani at
Knitting Sunshine! This is a handpainted superwash sock yarn in her "Emerald Isles" colorway. So springy!
I did a fun swap last week with
_ler! I traded some of my precious Malabrigo for some of her precious
Vesper Sock yarn! Two of my local LYS carry Malabrigo all the time, so I know I can get more of that, but I never seem to be able to snag any Vesper when it's available so I am really excited to try it out! The color on the left is "AquaMelon," and the color on the right is "Strange Little Mama."
Finally, one non-sock yarn. I've been wanting to make a
Clapotis out of the recommended luxurious Lorna's Laces Lion & Lamb yarn, but at $30/skein, and needing 3-4 skeins, um, sadly no. But I did find this
gorgeous neckwarmer pattern from
dogged knits and was able to snag 1 skein of "cranberry" on eBay for less than retail, so I can try a little luxury without breaking the bank.
