Today Lee and I ventured into Brussels. We walked, took the tram, walked, took the metro then walked again. It was fun. We went to a big park and fed really stale bread to the strange ducks and swans. We also went to lunch and to the UK's Waterstone bookstore.I refuse to pay 40 euros about $50 for the new (actually it's prob not new but new to me) James Carville book Had Enough? : A Handbook for Fighting Backby James Carville. Don't know if it's any good but he made me laugh when I was watching him on an Conan O'brien rerun last night. I'll have to find someone to buy it and send it or buy it when I go back. I'm excited that my mom is bringing me some books when she comes to visit on Wednesday.
There's a library at the American Women's Club but I haven't had a good chance to really browse their books yet. I'll have to check it out when I start volunteering there. Last week I completed a volunteer training for the Women's Club library. I'm excited about spending 3 hours or more a month surrounded by books and current magazines.
Watching tv shows here in Belgium that ran live just days before in the US feels weird. The Oscars were on primetime Flemish/Belgium television last night. It must have had major cuts because it was only an hour with 1 or 2 commerical breaks. After watching the Oscar's, we watched Jay Leno reruns that took place last week after the Oscar's as well. At least the delays in programs from the US are shown in sync here.
