Flea Market Montgomery - it keeps you - jumpin'!

So, my room has been successfully cleaned and organized!  Victory!!  I am really happy with how it looks, and now all that's missing are some fresh flowers for the window, and I think I might go out and get some today.  I'll post pictures soon, since I want everyone to see my room now that it's all revamped.  All the furniture is still in the same places, but I took down a lot of the stuff from the walls, put up current things that are usually only up at college, etc.  I also came up with a list of summer goals to keep myself from just sitting around wasting away.  Each one is on an index card on my wall with room for a star post-it when I complete it.  I want to feel like I'm accomplishing something, but at the same time, many of these goals relate to things that I actually enjoy, but never get to do.  So, here are my summer goals:  (I might not remember them all, since I'm updating from upstairs and don't feel like going down and checking.  I'll edit if I've missed anything glaring.)

  • Read 30 books.  My goal is to read 50 in 2007, and I had read 13 before the summer started, so I figure 30 is a good number, considering that I won't have as much time to read next semester.  So far I'm in the middle of my 4th summer book.  I also hope to update LJ with books as I read them, so you can see what I'm reading and get recommendations, etc.
  • Start LLT (my teaching program) completely prepared- all required readings/writings done, etc.
  • Survive Wilderness Week
  • Successfully complete LLT
  • Lose about 15 more pounds
  • Be able to do planks without wanting to scream
  • Fill an entire sketchbook
  • Finish the drawing that I promised Evan
  • Get comfortable with pastels and ink
  • Be happy with a finished drawing of a tree
  • Practice the orchestra audition music sufficiently (I'm not 100% positive that I'm going to audition this year, but I'm leaning towards it, so want to be prepared).
  • Practice to acceptability these senior recital piece candidates:  Ibert concerto, Liebermann concerto, Prokofiev sonata, Carmen fantasy
  • Make a skating scrapbook
  • Clean out my closet
  • Make a layout for LJ

So, yeah, it's a lot of goals, but I also have until the end of August to accomplish them, so hopefully I'll come close.  Also there are the general goals of saving money, keeping my room clean, finishing my LJ tags, etc.

Other happenings... on Monday, Harper came up to visit. :)  I was able to get Monday night covered at work and had Tuesday off anyway, so it worked out really well.  I kind of showed her around the area and such- Monday I showed her the wonder that is Uno's and we had appetizers, then went bathing suit shopping (I got a cute new bathing suit top that goes well with the bottoms I  already had, as well as a new pair of sunglassesso score!).  We had dinner at Newick's with my family, and then came back home and stayed up till 2:30 talking and watching/making fun of Strong Medicine.  Tuesday we put our bathing suit finds to use and spent the day at York Beach.  It was a beautiful day, and we got some nice sun (I'm a little more burned than I'd like, but nothing like the ridiculousness of a few weeks ago, haha).  The beach was SO nice, though, and I need to go more often this year,.  We had dinner at Ruby Tuesday's (mostly for the purpose of visiting Todd), came home, ate American Idol ice cream, and watched a couple episodes of SVU.  I proceeded to fall asleep while we were watching- this is behavior that I usually exhibit during movies, not TV shows!  It must have been the sun.  So, we went to bed, and on Wednesday ran a few errands at Barnes and Noble and the mall before Harper set off for her trip to Italy.

Random thought: it's nice having someone up who isn't from here (Harper's from California), because it really makes me appreciate my environment and look at it in a new way.  Like, we were driving down this road that I drive on all the time, and Harper kept commenting on how pretty it was, how it looked like a different country, etc.  It was just nice, because I grew up here and am used to it and often don't really give anything a second glance, so it was neat to be able to look and appreciate the familiar.

I have to work tonight, and feel like I haven't been there in ages- not since Sunday!  I gave away my Monday night shift, had Tuesday off, and last night I got called out.  So, I'm kinda blehhh about going in tonight, but also really want to make some money, so it's all good.
