Ladies Short

Mar 23, 2007 10:42

I decided to sleep through this one (on purpose this time) cause I was just too tired, and I'd much rather miss the short than the free. BUT apparently this was the time that the live UK Eurosport video streaming (as opposed to audio or nothing) decided to actually WORK! Oh well. It's listed to air the free as well. ANYWAY, results.

1 Yu-Na KIM KOR 71.95
2 Miki ANDO JPN 67.98
3 Carolina KOSTNER ITA 67.15
4 Kimmie MEISSNER USA 64.67
5 Mao ASADA JPN 61.32
6 Emily HUGHES USA 60.88
7 Yukari NAKANO JPN 60.62
8 Julia SEBESTYEN HUN 59.98
9 Sarah MEIER SUI 58.52
10 Susanna POYKIO FIN 57.16

NICE. I am, in general, quite satisfied with this placement:

-Apparently Yu-Na had the most incredible skate ever, and indeed, she broke Sasha's record for the short.
-Miki also appears to have done quite well, YAY. I love her.
-Emily and Yukari in the Top 7! Especially Yukari! I know everyone is annoyed with her leg wrap, but there is something about her that I really really like. I hope she stays up there.
-And, Sarah in the Top 10! All of my favorite ladies made Top 10 (well, except for one, but it didn't surprise me, and this is the GOOD section so I'll get there later).
-NO FALLS for the entire Top 9. YES.

Other news that doesn't fit into the "yay I love this" category:
-I'm kind of disappointed that Alissa is in 18th, but I can't say I'm surprised.
-I'm kind of surprised that Joannie is in 16th, but I can't say I'm disappointed.
-I wish Sarah had placed above Julia, but she's close, so it's ok.

Hopes for tomorrow/today/whatever: For all my favorites to do well, of course, but my biggest hope is that Miki will attempt, and land, the quad. I REALLY hope she does it. I don't know if Yu-Na's lead is too big for her to risk it, but oh man, I really want to see her land it in competition. She's been doing so in practice, so I have my fingers crossed.

Miki for the win, Yu-Na and Yukari for the podium! (even though that last one won't happen and she'd most likely have to Meissner into it, partially to beat Meissner herself...I can dream!)
