Late last night, The Unnatural was on, and while I'm not particularly fond of the middle 90% of that episode, the beginning is cute and the end is classic. I turned it on just for the end last night, and I hadn't seen that scene in forever, and I still love it as much as always. It's one of those perfect moments of TV, I think. Definitely one of my favorite scenes of anything ever.
Today we drew from a model for the first time, and I was absolutely awful. I'm not even saying that in a self-deprecating, false-modesty way, I really honestly mean that I was awful; it was as if I'd stepped back three or four years in my drawing. I tried thinking of it as just another still life, another collection of lines and shading that would eventually create a form, but it wasn't happening. Maybe because it's a human body, little inaccuracies are more noticeable? Anyway though, I ended up spending so much time trying (and failing) to get it "just right" that I barely even got any of the poses completely laid out. It was ridiculous. Maybe I was just having a bad drawing day overall and anything we had done would have sucked. I think I'll look up n@k3d p!x (oh noes!) online and try to practice in my sketchbook.
But, first comes all of my reading....
