The letter meme

This is how it works: Comment on this entry and I will give you a letter. Write ten words beginning with that letter in your journal, including an explanation what the word means to you and why, and than pass out letters to those who want to play along.

I was given the letter M by the_rhianna. I may comment on other people's and get more letters if I am bored or needing a study break throughout the night. ;)

My M words (this letter was harder than I anticipated, so some answers are quite random):

music- The most cliched answer probably, but oh well. :P I've always loved music, and it has been a very important part of my life particularly for the past 10 or 11 years that I've been playing the flute. My experiences with music have shaped who I am as a person, both internally by getting to know myself through the music that I play, and externally through all of the friends that I have made and experiences that I have had in various performing groups. I may not have chosen to seriously pursue music as a career or as an academic pursuit, but it will always be a huge part of my life. (I also love listening to music and it's hard to find a genre that I don't enjoy at least partially.)

mint tins- For a long time, probably from when I was about 14 until 17 or 18, I thought it was a good idea to have a collection of mint tins. Like, when people would finish their Altoids or whatever, I'd ask for the tin. At first I just wanted to have as many as I could, but then it got out of hand and I got rid of all the duplicates and just wanted to have as many different *kinds* as I could. The box of them is still in my closet at home, and whenever I see a new or interesting mint tin I am still tempted to keep it (I sometimes do, but it always ends up getting lost).

Mulder and Scully- Somewhat cheating on the letter, but it was the pair, not just the Mulder. Simply put, even though I'm not hardcore obsessed anymore, I will always love them. I love their relationship, their story, and for me it will be very difficult to ever match or duplicate, in fiction or in reality. OTP, man.

mandalas- Mandalas are these geometric design things that you color and that are meant for meditation, reflection, etc. My mom gave me a book of them for Christmas, and they are awesome. I don't always give them the consideration that I should, but they are fun to color, and turn out looking really cool. I have a bunch of them hung up on the ledge thingy above my bed.

murder mystery- Double M! (I guess that makes up for the cheat move of "Mulder and Scully.") For the past two years, my Smith friends and I have had a murder mystery party sometime in the spring (I posted pictures of this year's a couple weeks ago). We order a kit online, and it is one of my favorite events of the year. I hope that we continue to have one for the next two years!

mangoes- Pretty much my favorite food ever. I love fruit in general, but mangoes are at the top of the list. I could always use more mangoes in my life.

milk and mayonnaise- Two things, but they go together- they are two common foods that I really really don't like. I do like a lot of other dairy products, but the only thing I'll use actual milk for is to put it in coffee. I even eat my cereal dry. As for mayo, the only thing I'll eat it in is tuna, and sometimes chicken salad if it's not too heavy. But I'll never just put it on a sandwich, eww.

mail- I love love love getting and sending mail. It's so exciting to go to check my mailbox and find something there! And sending letters and packages is great- it's fun to do with friends, and is awesome when it gets you NEW friends. ;)

mental health- The field that I'm studying to get into. While the actual specifics of what I've wanted to do have changed throughout the years and right now are not completely defined (I know that I want to be some sort of counseling psychologist, but haven't gotten completely down to specifics beyond having a few possibilities floating around), but I've wanted to get into the field in some way since I was about 11 or 12. I'm not sure what first attracted me to it, but I love helping people and hopefully I can use that to build a career.

Marshall's International Showcase- Like I wasn't going to include this. This is the skating event that Rhianna attended, where she met Evan and had him talk to me on the phone, and he said he loved me and we became his friends. Best night ever.

Comment if you would like a letter and I shall give you one. :)
