I haven't given this thing a significant update in a while... I guess it's because nothing hugely interesting has been happening- just the usual friends, school, TV, etc.
I've continued to be very happy for the most part. I'm loving my Russian Lit and Clinical Psych classes, the others are great too... everything's been good. I sound so boring. :P
The Olympics are ending and I'm watching the closing ceremonies as we speak... it always makes me sad for them to be over. It's so weird to think how long it'll be before another winter games... I remember watching the closing ceremonies in 2002 on my couch at home (I was a sophomore in high school at the time), and as I watched them pass the torch to Italy I got all overwhelmed with this emotion because I realized that the next time I saw a winter closing ceremony, I wouldn't even be living at home. It was weird to think that I'd be in college, in this whole new life. Now college life seems completely normal, but I'm watching this and realizing that in 2010 I'll be...who knows where. I'll have a BA (or two), I'll be in grad school, don't know where I'll be living or working or anything like that. It's weird to think about and also kind of exciting...and also a bit depressing because ack, I have to wait THAT long for another Winter Olympics? :( But then again, scary that the time passed so quickly.
I think I mentioned this before, but I've spent a great deal of these past two weeks fangirling over
Evan Lysacek, the US figure skater who placed 4th at these games. If you don't feel like clicking the link, that's him in my icon. I love the letter he wrote for the front page of his site, and I really hope it was actually him who wrote it. So much doubt about those things these days. But yeah, he vacillates between adorable and dead sexy, and is an amazing skater to boot. For those of you who don't know the story, he skated his short program and made a lot of mistakes and ended up in 10th place...then that night he got really sick and spent the next day hooked up to IVs and being physically sick and emotionally disappointed from his short program, and he didn't know if he'd even be able to compete in the free skate until a few hours beforehand, but he decided to do it, and he went out there and did just an AMAZING performance, technically great and so full of energy and total redemption. It was enough to move him up to 4th place, and the look on his face afterwards was so incredible, and then of course afterwards he goes on all these shows to talk about it and is just a total cutie. There's no way that I'm going to wait until 2010 to see him again, so I think I'm going to start following figure skating more closely again. Worlds start airing on ESPN on March 23!
I should add that I still love Apolo, and last night he looked happier than I'd ever seen anyone since...well, Evan last week. :P Ooh, speaking of Apolo, here he is! *watches* Oh, how I love him.
Not really much else to comment on right now...goodbye Olympics- sad to see you go, but I'll have my life back too. ;)
Thoughts on the repetitive NBC commercials: I think I'm going to try watching Conviction. And the commercials for Deal or No Deal are the most annoying thing I've seen in a while.
