I think it's important to invest in makeup brushes just as you would on actual makeup products. I've been slowly building my brush arsenal (all of which need washing right now) and I'm actually pretty happy that some of them are from a local brand called Charm Essentials Makeup Brush. I don't have a lot, just five products from the brand but out of those five, four have been a constant favorite for me.
Pictured above are the Vegan Classic Blending Brush (pink handle), Vegan Crease Blending Brush (pink handle), #5 Pro Angled Blush/Contour Brush (black handle) and #11 Pro Blending Brush (black handle).
The vegan line are some of the softest brushes I have ever used. I love using it for when I want to do a complete eye makeup (lid, outer c, crease). The rounded crease blending brush is perfect for when you want to add a matte color on the crease. It applies the product well and blends it at the same time. Then the flat blending brush is what I use for when I'm done applying colors on my eyes and I want to erase any hard edges. The #11 brush is a recent addition and I think it's an ever better blending brush to make sure that all eyemakeup colors are fading into each other. It's not as soft as the vegan one, but it's a lot less scratchy than the MAC 217 (which I also love btw). The angled brush is one I use for contour and not so much for blushes. It fits perfectly in the imaginary hollows of my cheeks and the fluffier end blends the edges so I don't have a straight line drawn on.
These brushes also wash well, don't shed and they retain the shape even when I lay them flat on a towel to dry. To be fair, I think I have to mention the one brush from the brand that I didn't like. It's the travel pointed foundation brush from the vegan line. I thought it would be good for applying foundation and concealer but it just eats up the product and leaves the product looking streaky on my skin. It also sheds and leaves hair on my face when I'm doing my base which is super annoying. I don't know if that's a dud product but I still would try other brushes from the brand. Four standouts out of five is pretty good performance for me.
