Revlon ColorBurst Matte Balms

As a follow-up to my post yesterday ( link), here's the other product that launched together with the lacquer ones, the Revlon ColorBurst Matte Balms. Unlike the lacquer balms where I only got one shade, I feel like the matte balms had more colors in the range that really appealed to me. So I got four. Here are the colors that I got:

I got the shades Complex, Elusive, Mischievous and Standout. Complex is a nude color; Elusive a cool-toned medium pink; Mischievous a bright orange and Standout, a deep berry red color. I think with these four colors, I have every makeup look covered. I use Complex for daily wear, Mischievous to be trendy because orange is in this season, Elusive because I'm a pink lover through and through and Standout for night outs or for vampy looks.

These matte balm still come in the hand lip crayon packaging with a matte covering. I also forgot to mention that the color of the pencils reflect the color of the product so it's very easy to pick out the color when it's in your makeup stash. That's one advantage over lipsticks in a bullet! It has the same minty flavor which makes applying the product very soothing.

This type of matte texture is more like the Maybelline bold matte lipsticks (review here) instead of the MAC matte lipsticks. Weartime is also pretty decent. It lasts all day except when I eat or drink a lot. They all leave a stain but of course the darker shades (Standout) leaves the most color. Standout fades evenly into this nice sheer red color.

My top picks from the lot would have to be Complex because I'm having a nude obsession lately and Mischievous for a pop of color. Complex looks great on its own but it also looks great when I layer a pink gloss over it. While Mischievous instantly brightens up a look because the color is very bright and modern.

If you haven't picked up the Revlon Lacquer and Matte balms, I suggest you swatch these at Watsons, SM or any beauty department store near you. They have such a wide range of colors, I'm sure you'll find one that suits you!
