Lipstick Month Post#17: Topshop Lipstick in Hazard

Jul 25, 2013 14:39

When it comes to bold lipsticks, I'm more comfortable wearing a loud fuchsia pink color or a coral one than wearing a bright red lipstick. There have been a lot of times when I tried wearing a full swipe on my lips then I'd chicken out right before leaving the house. I would wipe off the red and then replace it with a safe color (usually a pink one).

For some reason whenever I use a red lipstick, I feel like I'm wearing too much makeup. I know it's crazy because a lot of girls wear red and they don't look clownish. The only way I can wear red is if I use it as a stain. But right now, I'm slowly trying to overcome that notion because I still have a lot of red lippies I have to use up. And also because red can make you look made up and sophisticated paired with just black eyeliner and a good base.

Here's one of the reds I have in my stash:

This is the Topshop lipstick in Hazard. On the tube it looks like a dark brick red color but when swatched, it looks a bit brighter.

It's a neutral red color with matte finish. If you want a darker color than the swatch, you can get it by layering more color. In comparison with Russian Red, this one suits my skin tone better, I think. It's easier for me to pull off. But then again, mostly I use this as a stain. One of these days, I'll wear a full swipe of this as it is really a great color. Staying power is good at four to five hours. It also leaves a pretty stain if you're into it like I am.

Do you like wearing red lippies? What do you pair it with?
