FRIDAY PANELS!! Continuum Edition.

Jul 30, 2008 13:16

*I have full audio of both panels on my phone, the quality is really crappy ( and i scream a lot) but i can try to upload it if someone wants it.
*I also took 165 Pictures at the Con in my LJ Gallery
Side note: I thought a lot of the things they talked about were familiar. and seriously fandom, ask better questions.

Well there was lots of interesting things that happened at Comic Con. Firstly, the Continuum premiere the night before was open to the public, which i was unaware. I totally would have gone but I read in the gateworld forum that it was press only. Which made me die a little on the inside, but oh well. I got up at 5am and got there at like 6:15. There were like a hundred people ahead of us, so i figured our odds were good. At 7:30 they opened the doors and we peon rushed towards the line which was for Ballroom 20 on the top floor. We ran, and there was a little gate things with cloth to act as a barrier for the two lines, so naturally I ducked underneath them to get to the actual line. I think that annoyed the girls behind me, but oh well. We were really close to the front.

And then we waited until 9:30 when they let us in for the 10:45. It was pretty boring and with the line to get into the convention I basically killed my iPod. But it was worth it, I mean come on Richard Dean Anderson's first appearance at Comic Con? That kind of thing is EPIC!

STARGATE CONTINUUM:

Okay first Brad Wright (Co-Creator/Producer/Cool Guy) came out and then introduced RDA as his best friend. Which made me tear up a little bit, because hey that's amazing. And then RDA came out, looking snazzy as ever and the crowd effin lost it, i mean they went berserk. And then he introduced the rest of the cast (and Beau Bridges). I really thought it would be cool if Claudia Black could come, but meh. The full cast was cool. :D

The first thing they talked about was how cool having the Premiere on an Aircraft Carrier. Which I agree is very unique.
sam_daily   has a bunch of nice shots from the premiere if anyone wants some. They also talked about how cool it was to have an actual premiere for the press and the fans and that Stargate as a franchise can do that sort of thing. Brad made a joke about how for years, he had been asked for long dark locks (he was asked by Chris Judege)And then joked about how now Amanda has long dark hair (which is just gorgeous, trust me) for Sanctuary. Then Chris joked about how he always gets in trouble and that they should ease Rick into the convention.

Then they opened it up to questions:

QUESTION: Current Projects?
RDA: He's unemployed and a single father, and he's been building a house for the past four years. He said his daughter is turning ten and we all applauded; and then he wondered why. It was cute. We pretty much ooh and aww'd over everything he said. He also got over two surgeries and then this con was it. Then he  plugged another one he was going to in Canada.

AT: She said they are done with 9/13 episodes for Sanctuary, which everyone was happy about. I think it's good that she wants to stay involved with Stargate, but can still do other things.

MS: He said he was hanging out at Rick's house. And that he finished up on a little show called STARGATE ATLANTIS in which i went apeshit for because hey, more Daniel Jackson is always a good thing. He is also working with Chris on Rage of Angels and he's doing a stint on Burn Notice, which should be great. (he didn't mention the movie-thing for sci-fi....which was probably a good idea)

BB: He is also not working....right now. He said he's a contractor for Rick. And then Rick corrected him and said 'sub-contractor', which was hilarious. He coached a pole vaulting team, and one of the girls did really well (something-something Champion. He's also auditioning and writing, which is always good. He then joked about how Mitchell hasn't been to Atlantis, which i think is a shame. He then mentioned how EVERYONE ELSE (including Beau) has been there. He told us to bring it up at the Atlantis panel.

CJ: He is currently employed as Rick's Cabana boy. (LAUGHS) He also had a brief appearance on 24 as a big bad guy, but then he was fired (at this point Rick was cheering and said "it's fun isn't it?") He then clarified and said it was because he wasn't black (african) enough.LOL. He promised there would be a 'fairly substantial update' in the next couple of weeks about Rage of Angels.

Beau: He is playing Earl's dad on My Name is Earl, and he is in Max Payne

Brad: He's gonna remix/re-cut/re-edit Children of the Gods, and he's pondering/making magic/working on a possible Stargate Spinoff and the third movie (MGM is quote "Thinking about it") Stargate Universe is also a definite possibility

QUESTION: Advice for future filmmakers?
The general answer was plan for the show to end every season and it will get picked up. LOL. ALSO: Hire  Brad Wright and ride his coattails for 12 years.

QUESTION: Michael, I'm glad you're here instead of being called from the bathroom...I just wanted to ask what I should tell them to buy the movie, should i summarize things or be there with them to explain things?

Michael: I'll take the first part- I'm wearing something special undergarments today.

Martin goes on to say how it was great to see old people come up in the movie and then went on to honor Don Davis with this really emotional, great orchestrated tribute piece. I cried it was so sad. Hell just thinking about it makes me a little teary. There was not a dry eye on the panel, I mean Chris Judge was crying and Amanda wasn't sure she could stay on stage. Don Davis was well loved. ( Here you can read Joe Mallozzi's tribute blog which also made me cry)

THe next question was about the favorite part about filming continuum, and GUESS WHAT? IT WAS GOING TO THE ARTIC! Martin Wood tells this story about "Pee Buddies" and how if you touched metal someone had to pee on you to get you un-stuck. Also he re-told the story about RDA waking him up to go to the bathroom and leaving the door open.

RDA's favorite part was having frozen poop. *snickers*
Ben also liked RDA's frozen poop because then the seat was warm when he needed to use it.

FAVORITE EPISODE:
Pretty much the answer was HEROES. Which I hate watching because I get upset when they kill Janet Fraiser. They also liked 200. Martin Wood says his favorite is Continuum.
RDA's favorite is the next one. :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

Then they talk more about the artic, and how great it was and the submarine, and etc. etc.
AT and BB making snow angels and giggling like schoolgirls would be hilarious. Oh! I should add that periodically, Amanda and Rick were very cutesy with each other- like Rick would put his arm around her and She would put her head on his shoulder. It's was a secret Sam/Jack shoutout, i swear!

AND THEN THE BEST MOMENT OF ALL:

Ben Browder was demonstrating how easy it was  to get stuck to something  metal(in the Arctic) and his hand went out in front of Michael Shanks. So naturally, Michael stands up and goes for his belt like he's going to drop his pants to pee. And my  camera was lagging so I MISSED IT ON FILM!!! OMG!! Oh Michael, you are amazing. Michael dropping his pants would have been like Epic- i would have gone into cardiac arrest.

Chris Judge's favorite part was that the others went to the arctic, and he went golfing in balmy 80-degree weather. And pooped indoors.

Some other questions were like... most emotional scene... stuff like Sam's Dad dying, etc. RDA's answer was dealing with Jack's son's death.
