POEM FOR ENGLISH
I Hear Coventry High School Singing
I hear CHS singing its crazy, out-of-tune song.
The girls walk by the boys with their own unique words,
And the boys are more than willing to sing right back.
Teachers sing their songs to students, hoping they’ll catch on.
Coaches sing the words of a game while the players dance along.
The brainiest make up songs to remember names and dates.
The slackers don’t sing at all.
Automotive kids listen to the song of a car they brought to life,
While the computer lovers click and type with the humming of a machine.
The teacher’s pet mimics the lesson of the day to receive their "A"
Rocker kids bang their heads to their hard-core bands.
Everyone has a good time while singing the same songs at dances.
After school, the janitors sing while cleaning up what comes to be our second home.
Freshman don’t know what song to sing.
The seniors finish the chorus.
Each singing what belongs to him or her and no one else.
