5. U2/October - There’s nothing easier to sing along to than old U2. “Gloria” and “October” are definitely the two best songs on this CD. Plus, their Irish, and Bono is a really nice guy. I have to say this is U2 at its best. Damn, I love a European band from the eighties. I really do.
4. Neutral Milk Hotel/Aeroplane Over the Sea - Jeff Magnum is pretty good at being a genius. He is a great songwriter. Either way, even though this album is supposedly about the Holocaust, it really inspires. I haven’t really acted on my inspiration yet but I do love to listen to this when I write. It may end up on my Xanga some day.
3. The Libertines/I Get Along - Who doesn’t like a chaotic British rock band who eventually split up because of intense drug use? There’s only five tracks, but they’re all packed with lots of English colloquial that people like me just can’t get enough of. I’m just sorry it’s too late to hit a few trashy guerilla gigs.
2. The Beatles/Sergeant Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band - There’s got to be a Beatles album on this list and I had a lot of trouble picking one. This one, though, I think is the most fun. Plus, “Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds” is one of my favorite by them; I sing it in my car when 106.3 gets old (no pun intended).
1. Simon and Garfunkle/Simon and Garfunkle’s Greatest Hits - Surprised? I’ve got to say that I probably listen to at least one track off this album every day. For those of you who don’t know me so well, “Mrs. Robinson” is, like, my all-time favorite song. Of course now they’re killing it with some Jennifer Aniston flick. “The Graduate” is truly my favorite film of all time, but you won’t catch me dead at the new romantic comedy spinoff. No fucking way.
