Man Proposes To Girlfriend Onstage At 'The Wedding Singer'
NEW YORK -- A New York City schoolteacher got a Broadway proposal Sunday when her police officer boyfriend asked her to marry him while the two were onstage at a performance of "The Wedding Singer."
Michael Pugliese had his family and friends secretly come to the show, then he enlisted the help of the show's publicist to get Margie Gallo, 29, onstage.
Publicist Steven Lynch announced at the show's curtain call that the show was giving away a romantic dinner to celebrate its 100th performance. He then called out Pugliese's seat number and called the couple onstage to accept the prize.
There, with cast members steps away, Pugliese got down on one knee and told Gallo he wanted to grow old with her. When she answered yes, the audience gave them a standing ovation.
