"You're worse than a nigger. You're African."

Needless to say, I just finished watching Hotel Rwanda.

Now, I'm not the "cry at the movies type" at all. Sometimes I watch Lifetime Movies just to get a good laugh. But this time... let's just say I'm still sniffling. That was so painful. SO PAINFUL. I feel the same way I did after watching Schindler's List and the famous report from Geraldo in the SuperDome after Katrina. The sense that this is just one story of the thousands of stories that could have been told. And that everyone in the world was turning a blind eye.

The fact that this shit is still going on today and is not getting recognized, yet "Oh, shit, the gays want to get married- we can't have that!" is plastered all over the headlines.

Ad honestly, this is not even a party debate anymore. Clinton was in office while this atrocity was being committed. Yet, did you hear about it? Do you remember this footage being shown on 60 Minutes? I sure as hell don't.

Is it going to take a movie for the world to realize what's really going on? I just find it difficult to believe that we didn't do anything during any of the recent genocides... not in Germany/Poland, not in Rwanda, not in Sudan, or any other place that would potentially cause us to lose business. France made the front page of the NY Times today for a riot that's been going on for a little over a week.

What about the unrest that has been going on for weeks? months? years? decades? The stuff you don't hear about. Venezuela. Argentina. Honduras. Sudan. Cote d'Ivoire. The list goes on and on. It just pisses me off that we're all "America! F yeah! Coming again to save the mf day yeah!!!111" to countries that really don't need us and turning out backs on the countries that are literally killing themselves.

But for real, rent this movie if you haven't seen it. If you live in Manhattan, I'll let you borrow it. It's amazing.

This is the kind of movie they should show to every student, but te kind of movie that will only be shown in like an "Ethnic studies" class. Which most people don't take. Or don't take seriously.

Don't listen to me. I'm just pissed off.
