I just wrote my first paper in 6 months. Eh, it sucks, I'm not going to lie. But I'm just not that interested in the role of symbolic gestures for language acquisition in infants.

It was a nice little break, though :).

Are the infants randomly selected in the U.S. or all over the world?

Actually, no. Only from a "middle class neighborhood in California." And get this- they had 22 babies- 20 white and 2 black. What about Hispanic babies? Asian babies? mixed race babies? Poor babies? Money-makin' babies? Can't we all just get along???

It depends where it is in California. Our class have the same issue: we're reading a book on how 4 yrs-old kids learn race and racism, and this researcher made a big general conclusion on racism based on... 20 kids in a single classroom. It's like, why should we believe you that all kids in the US behave the same? Sure, they might learn racism in an earlier stage, but these 20 kids can't represent half of the continent. It's not even statistically valid because it's not a random selection.
