Summary: Golden Pair get awoken by the horrible music and then go in search of somewhere to sleep. They end up very d'aww.
As melodic flute music played through the cruise ship, Eiji slowly woke. Blue eyes stated up towards the ceiling a he gathered how he felt. Firstly... For some reason the titanic love song ha started blaring over the loud speakers. He was never one for mushy movies or songs but he wondered if oishi was quietly enjoying himself next door. Secondly, it was still dark outside. He glanced at the clock and noted the 4:00 blinking brightly in red. Why did these random broadcasts always happen at four in the morning?
And lastly, the constant throbbing in his face just wouldn't go away. It wasn't so bad considering Momo had acquiesced and only slapped him really hard just once. And just for a split second he wondered if the other punters were annoyed they didn't go through with it in the end. It hurt!! But only for a split second before his eyes started watering and the throbbing hurt too much to care about anyone else. "Oishi!" A loud but pitiful voice called out into the cabin. "Oiiiishiiiii~" A voice which took on a 'pity me' and 'love me' whiny twinge to it the second time.
After having spent all of last night tending to Eiji's swollen face between lectures and multiple 'I-told-you-so's, Oishi had disappeared back toward his cabin to retrieve some ice from his fridge-- having used up all of Eiji's. He'd also retreated back to his cabin to let off some steam for a few minutes. Stupid Eiji and that stupid contest. Stupid Momo too. It had all ended just as he'd predicted it would-- no matter who won the both of them would be blubbering, injured messes with more bruises than common sense. But he couldn't very well take it out on a person who was laid up with a big red mark on his face, could he? Whatever talking-to's he wanted to give ended up as faint grumbles and mutters passed under his breath as he changed out the ice, or rubbed the top of Eiji's head until he'd fallen asleep. In fact, by the time he ended up back in his own cabin, he felt so tightly-wound with anger that he collapsed on his couch. A few minutes later, he was out cold.
So, when four or five hours had passed and the speakers in their rooms crackled to life, he groggily opened his eyes. When had he even dozed off...? Oishi was a pretty good morning person, but 4AM didn't count as 'morning' in his book-- nowhere near it. He'd managed to sleep through almost an entire play-through of some... vaguely familiar song, and Eiji's whining before he stumbled into a stand. "Mnn..." Why were they playing this so early...? He rubbed his wrists over his eyes and made his way to his partner's cabin through that door that seemed constantly open as of late. "E-Eiji. What is it?" It was the music, of course it was. Oishi wasn't awake enough to realize what a pointless, stupid question that had been.
"Make it stoooo~p" The redhead's voice managed to just barely be heard through the music. Not that the music was overly loud, it was Eiji trying not to be overly loud because being loud added to the throbbing his head was making. It made no sense, they stopped after one hard smack each, it must have just managed to hit him in the right place. With a little pitiful sniffle, he huddled back down in the bed and pulled the blanket over his head as if that would make the music stop for at least just a little while. Why wasn't Oishi right here, next to him? Why did the music have to be playing today of all days. The day before...if it had just played the day before they could have been standing on the top deck having a face off with nice background music. Blue eyes peeked out from the blanket to watch for the presence of boyfriend arriving. That was all he wanted right now. Well...that and for this weird throbbing to stop.
The music hit a particularly loud, and high note, and Oishi could feel his ears ringing. What's more, Eiji's voice was now added to the chorus of flutes and lyrics. An English song...? Hadn't he heard this some place before? Right now, Oishi was too half-asleep to answer. "Yes, yes, I hear you." He groaned, stepping into the bedroom just as the song started over again. Why did it sound familiar? "I-I can't make it stop, I have no idea where it's com--" In the pitch dark room his toe caught the edge of the bed and he did his best to bite his lip and endure it, "... ing from." he whimpered, limping the rest of the way toward Eiji's bed.
He sat down. The bed felt amazingly soft after spending the last few hours on the couch. "It's 4 in the morning, why is there music...?"
As the weight on the bed shifted with the additional body, Eiji shuffled closer to where the bed had dipped. He sniffed a little and huddled up against the other warm body and basically wrapped himself around Oishi, hugging on and staying cuddled there. "This boat is doing crazy things again..it's just like on April Fool's day..." He mumbled quietly and yawned a little bit, hugging as close as he could get. "How long is it going to play for...?"
"It can't be that long..." Oishi mumbled hopefully, "Maybe it's just a glitch?" Surely no one would purposely turn on cheesy music at four in the morning, and this many times in a row. The captain or someone on the crew would see to it and have it fixed, wouldn't they? Oishi's head was beginning to throb uncomfortably. Pulling his legs up onto the bed, he reached over and stole a pillow from the opposite side of the bed and wrapped it around the back of his head. Ah, that muffled it a bit.
"It's that song...from the boat movie.." Eiji mumbled quietly, having seen this movie quite a few times just to see how those actors handled some of their scenes. He sighed a little and blinked his eyes open to stare at the ceiling. The throbbin wouldn't go away and his face probably looked a right mess at the moment. Probably would only for a few days but it still felt quite horrible. Fingers reached up to tug at Oishi's collar in an attempt to get more attention. Eiji wanted attention~ Oishi could deal with his own headache later. He shuffled backwards slightly and effectively pulled on Oishi's shirt until the other man would lie down next to him. "Oishi~ why are they playing that boat song?" To be fair, Eiji had watched the whole movie dubbed into Japanese so it wasn't like he was an english movie guru. This song, however, had been left untouched.
"From the boat..." Oishi's voice trailed as that realization hit him. The boat movie? Titanic? Ah! So that's why this melancholy song sounded so terribly familiar. Wait, they were playing a song from Titanic when they were out on a giant boat in the middle of the ocean? Someone on board must have had a very sick sense of humor. And it was 4 AM again... perhaps this was another one of Atobe's crew playing a prank. Oishi could barely hear Eiji's voice over the pleasant muffling of the pillow, trying to read his lips instead. "O-oi..." He stammered tiredly when he was practically yanked down into bed, eyes trailing over that stupid swollen bruise on Eiji's face. "It's really cruel to play a song from Titanic when we're on a boat, isn't it?" His voice whined more than normal at four in the morning. "It's starting over again."
Every night in my dreams...I see you...I feel you~
Eiji hunkered down more in the bed and shook his head slightly. This couldn't be happening. This really couldn't be happening. They were being woken up at 4am by some crazy lady singing in a language he didn't really understand. At least he had Oishi with him but still...he blew out a breath of air and snuggled up closer to Oishi. "At least the boat isn't crashing today...?" He mumbled in response. Or any other day. The boat should just not crash at all. Ever. And just make this day end. "My head hurts, Oishi~"
"Be quiet. No... no talking about boats crashing." It had been years since Oishi had seen that film, but now he could see the scenes clear as day. The ship cracking in half, the people who tumbled down the side, the water, the freezing boy, everything. "It's not crashing. It's just a song." By now he was clearly speaking to himself. Following a pause, he curled up closer to Eiji and wrapped his arms around his back and knitted his fingers. "Of course your head hurts listening to this. They'll get it fixed and we can go back to sleep..."
A little nod could be felt lightly against Oishi's chest as Eiji snuggled up against his body and tangled their legs together. It was comfortable like this. They could just stay like this forever...well...at least until he got hungry. He sniffed a little bit as his hand worked its way into Oishi's shirt, just grabbing onto the fabric comfortably as he would have grabbed onto Daigoro in his sleep after a bad dream. It was another moment longer in ... silence from the two men but loud singing over the speakers before Eiji spoke again in his childish whiny voice. "My face hurts..."
"Ughhh..." It was at that moment that all of last night came back to Oishi. Stupidly cradling his stupid boyfriend's head and putting stupid ice on his stupidly bruised cheek. Another groan later, he pulled momentarily out of the grip Eiji had on him and shuffled sleepily off toward his cabin again, "I'll be right back..." he included as an afterthought. After a minute, he returned (somewhat) victoriously with a bag of ice-- the same bag he'd intended to replace hours ago. Now he wasn't sure if he was exhausted enough to be cranky with Eiji, or too tired to care that he'd been the one to bring this pain upon himself. The cheesy music had him leaning toward the latter. "Turn," He said quietly as he arrived on the side of the bed again, and gently pressed the ice against his cheek. "Try not to think about it."
A little whimper escaped the bedridden redhead as he felt Oishi pull away. Little grabby hands grasping at the air and then falling sadly onto the bed as he felt his boyfriend's presence disappear. He shuffled closer to the edge of the bed. That little short distance would be a fraction of a second less time spent apart when Oishi finally came back in. And that he did just a few moments later. Eiji clung back onto his boyfriend, fingers digging into his shirt again so he definitely can't leave this time and a happy little moan escaping him when the ice dulled the pain. He continued with another little happy moan and shuffled closer to Oishi, almost toppling himself out of the bed in this attempt. "Oishiiiii~" Then silence as Eiji half dozed off from how comfortable this whole situation is even though the annoying music is still doing its loop.
Rolling his eyes at the hands that formed a death grip in his clothing, Oishi awkwardly slipped back under the blankets and cradled the ice under his palm and against Eiji's cheek, sandwiching it between the two. "Stop, stop. Isn't the music bad enough without listening to your whining?" He poked tiredly, trying to close his eyes and hear anything but that sappy music that surrounded them. Well, Eiji could evidently sleep through anything, he noticed at the sleepy, heavy breathing from his partner. Lucky.
Why that movie of all things? The most famous movie about a horrible maritime disaster, and it happened to play in the middle of the night while they were on a ship. Was it a sign? Another prank? No one would be that terrible, would they?
A half hour passed before Eiji stirred again, the ice becoming a little sludgy now but still feeling nice in the pack. Eiji now crawled up against Oishi, practically onto his body as he snuggled back down and wriggled a little in an attempt to find a nice comfortable position right up against his boyfriend. He peeked one eye up at the other man, checking to see if he was awake. And surely enough, even though the eyes were droopy, somehow Oishi was awake. In a few hours it would be his normal wakeup time anyway, wouldn't it? He crawled up Oishi's body slightly and before the other could protest, stole a quick kiss.
It was almost as if Oishi could feel the puffy circles forming around his eyes the longer he tried in vain to ignore this music. The few times he'd managed to drift off had been punctuated by loud belting singing, and completely ruined. When Eiji moved he lifted the bag of ice and set it on the night stand, only just noticing how soggy it had become since he'd last tested it. Wait, then just how long had that music been playing...? At first it was annoying, but the more he thought about it, the more emotionally-taxing it became. Not just the shipwreck, but everyone on board... He was far too sleep-deprived for this. "Mn," He glanced over at the kiss, "Eiji..." He groaned, "T-they didn't even try to both get on that door at the same time..."
Door...Eiji blinked a few moments, unsure of what Oishi meant as he sat there, practically sitting on the other man's lap now and watching him with curious blue eyes. Door....he thought about it for a bit longer. No...what did Oishi mean by door? And it took quite a while longer as he sat there and stared quizzically at Oishi before realizing he was talking about that boat movie. He burst into laughter and shook his head slightly. Eiji leaned down and stole another kiss before he slipped his arms around Oishi's waist and nestled down against that warm body. "Would we both get on the door...?" He questioned curiously, wonder what Oishi's reaction to that question would be.
"They didn't even try! They tried it once! And there was a lot of other debris in the ocean you know!" Oishi insisted with a great deal of conviction. He never had liked stories, especially romance stories, with bad endings. They could call them 'bittersweet' endings if they wanted, but they were still bad endings. Not to mention the numerous other characters who'd had been resigned to the same fate. Of course, one could argue that watching a movie about a real life disaster where hundreds of people died and expecting a positive end was... well... At Eiji's question, a characteristic worried crease formed between his brows, "O-of course! Eiji, we would figure something out!"
This was really funny sounding. Eiji couldn't help the little giggle that bubbled out from him when Oishi got excited over the idea of them needing to figure a way to survive in the depths of the cold cold ocean. He nudged against Oishi's neck and grinned. "I would let you climb onto the door..." He whispered quietly, grinning in the darkness as he tried to stifle more laughter. This kind of conversation was really amusing and Oishi had the tendency to get really worked up over how they would answer. Hypothetical conversations were really funny sometimes when it concerned these weird lovey dovey kind of scenes. The redhead leaned up and pressed a deep kiss against the side of Oishi's neck at that moment. The warmth and comfort of being this close to Oishi was nice....but his face still throbbed...and the music was annoying. He sighed. Blue eyes watched Oishi intently, watching each of the different expressions he wore as he thought about the situation of the couple at the end of that ... boat movie.
Even though it was... probable that Eiji was just poking around different answers to get a reaction out of him, Oishi chewed his bottom lip at that self-sacrificing answer. Eiji would... "We could share the door, we wouldn't just give up after one--" try, his words faded when a soft pair of lips pressed against his neck, fading into a soft moan that then evolved into a frustrated groan. It was particularly mean to tease your emotionally-taxed and sleep-deprived boyfriend. Sleepily he drew an arm up over his shoulder and squeezed, still thinking about each and every thing those stupid characters had done wrong in that stupid movie. A moment later he directed his attention to the eyes that were very plainly on him and watching with the tiniest hint of a grin on his face at the entertainment of watching Oishi's panicky brain flail desperately to find some way in which they would both come out of a situation like that alive. He kept those blue eyes in his sight a while longer before tipping them both to the side just slightly and capturing his lips-- still wearing a bit of a frown, "Jerk." He touched a hand gently to the side of the redhead's face before recalling the bruise there and redirecting to Eiji's hair. "You keep laughing, I should let you end up in the ocean..."
"You wouldn't leave me in the ocean...I would go all blue..and then turn into an icicle." He snuggled up against the warmth that surrounded him as if that proved a point. Oishi couldn't resist giving him warm comfy cuddles. He yawned a little bit and sighed as the music looped back to the start once more. This was going to be happening all day. They were going to have to listen to this...however many times. Inui probably already had an answer to that. "You could sit there...snapping the tips off my curls.." Eiji whined a little bit at that thought and huddled down in the embrace like he were freezing cold already. "But it'd be okay because Oishi would be alive...and could go back and live in your rich house." My heart will go on and ooooo~n. Eiji didn't care what anybody said. This kind of song ruins nice moments...doesn't create them. "Make the music go awaaaaay" He whined in an attempt to be louder than that female singing voice.
Oishi curled a bit of red hair around his pinky as Eiji said that and chuckled softly, trying not to think about it too hard. Eiji would just laugh at him again. "You're right. I couldn't do that, even if you were being really, really annoying." The fake shiver got another laugh as Oishi reached for the blankets and gathered them up over his back, working up a hot friction with his hands and then setting them on the back of his partner's neck. "I'd just swim around looking for something we could both get on until I sunk. ... Though living in a big house sounds nice too." And there it was again, right on time... Thoughtfully he stared up at the ceiling. Wasn't there a scene in that movie something like this...? That old couple lied in bed together as the water was filling-- oh god, that's even worse. He groaned and clamped his hands over Eiji's ears. As annoying as this was, and despite the fact that it was likely a prank, the thought of the ship sinking was... kind of getting to him. He really wished he was back on solid ground somewhere. "How do you expect me to make it stop?" He mouthed curiously.
"Oishi..." Eiji's voice mumbled quietly as he lay there."You're really comfy..." He breathed in that familiar scent again and relaxed even more, eyes drooping closed as the music just droned on in the background, but now happily muffled by the hands that were covering his ears. Now if things could just stay that way. He couldn't help but giggle a little in his half asleep state. "We should...go find all of the speakers...and smash them..." Be the delinquents that they should be. Smash up the boat. Surely, Atobe wouldn't mind just to get some peace and quiet.
It really said something about his current lack of sleep that Oishi thought, however briefly, that going through the ship and destroying every speaker was the most appealing thing right now. Romantic, even. In a really villainous way. A slightly perverted, sneaky grin spread over his lips for only a split second before he got that out of his system. "I don't think we can do that," He said after peeling back a hand just slightly, "as nice as that sounds." And it did sound really nice, as that singer's voice hit another loud belt and his mind was filled with nothing but depressing pictures of people scrambling on a half-sunken ship. "... I wonder if it's just the cabins. Maybe we could escape somewhere else...?"
As Oishi spoke the last few lines, Eiji nestled right up against him and curled up against the warm comfortable and safe body. He could feel as safe as anything when Oishi was here. He breathed in the comfortable scent and allowed himself to doze off, mumbling a few things quietly as he did so..."We can escape...back to Seigaku...where everything made sense..." Their captain was Tezuka...and their most important goal was to win the national finals. Nothing else mattered one bit. His breaths continued quietly as happy dreams started to flood his mind.
Dreams of giant parfait and roads made of chocolate. All he had to do each day was explore new parts of the world. Pancakes with fountains of syrup, chocolate fountains that had all kinds of things ready to be dipped in. Giant gingerbread houses that had no scary witches inside, just giant gingerbread men who were baking cupcakes for people to eat. ...popcorn that was covered in all kinds of sugary flavours. Pop...Pop...Pop...
BANG....Thump...BANG. Eiji's eyes blinked open just barely as the noise started in the cabin next door.
"You think things made sense at Sei--" A startlingly loud thump nearby interrupted Oishi's thought and caused him to flinch, putting all his nerves on edge. After a small pause, there was another identical sound. It was coming from... next door? A few more thumps, and a louder bang followed curiously. And then what sounded like... flapping? Oishi thought it sounded somewhat familiar, like the movement of a bird's wings, but louder and sharper. If it was coming from his room then maybe something got inside...? Someone...? In the background a loud, crackly chorus weaved its way through the rhythm of crashes and hollow knocks nearby. They were on a ship with a limited number of guests and crew, so the chances that it was a burglar or something like that was low, but it was still unnerving all the same. Augh, and that music didn't make any of this anymore comforting.
When the sounds finally settled, Oishi hesitantly slid his legs out from the bed and tentatively touched his feet to the floor, as if he couldn't quite decide if he wanted to go check it out. "Is... there something... in my room?" He asked Eiji with a quirked brow. Eiji wouldn't know any better than he would, but... His lips curled, snapped out of any sleepiness left in his system. "I should see..." Trailed Oishi, squirming out from underneath his partner and starting a set of very punctuated, slow steps toward his own cabin. W-what's the worst it could be anyway? A bird that found its way inside maybe?
"Oishiii~" Eiji whined at the man who now decided it was a wonderful idea to go towards the thumping sounds. This is what stupid people did in horror movies and got themselves killed. Not that...getting killed was what Eiji was worried about. More just the fact that Oishi would harp on about survival instincts and ignore this tiny little fact. He sat up in the bed, blinking slightly blurry eyes at the figure that was now making his way towards the other room. Eiji rubbed at his eyes and yawned slightly before he stretched a little to get his circulation going. As he noticed Oishi almost at his own cabin now, right beside his bed a mobile phone burst into life with an angry ring for attention. The redhead jumped where he sat and instinctively reached out for the phone without thinking. It was Ran's ringtone and it demanded attention.
The sudden high-pitched chime of the phone nearly caused Oishi to jump out of his skin. His eyes snapped open and his hand covered his heart, leaning his weight back against the door frame separating their individual cabins and slowly... slowly... let a breath pass his lips. All right. The fretful whine from his boyfriend caused him to buck up and puff out his chest, disappearing into his own cabin without another moment's hesitation.
"There's no one..." Switching on the light, Oishi cut himself off with a shocked yelp.
Scattered all over his cabin were the text books he'd brought along to review (not that he'd been getting much of that done lately), flung willy nilly over the desk, the chairs, the couch, and all over the floor. Worse yet, their pages had been torn out. Torn out. For a moment Oishi was too overwhelmed by the sheer impossibility of trying to piece them all together again he just stood there, wide-eyed. Exhausted, wide-eyed, and with explosive text books all around them. He didn't even have time to consider how this had happened and made quick work of frantically rushing through the cabin to pick up all the spare pages. "E-Eiji! Something terrible happened in here!"
"Hello..?" Eiji whispered into the phone he had picked up and held up to his ear. The response was just crackle and silence on the other end. The redhead huddled down in his bed and clicked off the phone only to hear his boyfriend call that something was horrible in the other room. As he breathed in and forced himself to pull out of bed and answer Oishi, that phone rang again. The same ringtone. He froze for a moment before he reached out to pick up the phone and answered again in a very similar manner to the first time he answered. "Ran...?" Again...silence...and then a crackle...and it was either angry breathing or some crackle that Eiji misheard. He wasn't sure.
In the cabin next door Oishi was still continuing with the picking up and organizing of notes when Eiji answered his mobile phone another three or four times before the ring again, coupled with the "my heart will go ooon and ooooo~n" began to really cause him to panic. Eiji's voice was panicked as it called out to the other room. "OISHI!" Only for the redhead to barrel into that cabin just moments later and practically jump at the other man, clinging on tightly and almost trembling. Ghosts...the most evil ghosts known to mankind probably. Why have they congregated on Atobe's ship, anyway?
Sweeping his arms over the floor, Oishi knelt down to yank another page out from under the far corner of the couch. ... How had it even gotten there? And some pages were still sailing delicately in the air-- disrupted by some invisible force. There were so many of them, the books looked like they'd been stripped bare. Realistically, they were a total loss. It would be more trouble to patch them back up again than to purchase a new set. Oishi was remarkably stubborn sometimes though. He must have had a good few dozen pages in his arms when he was tackled suddenly from behind.
And there they all went... again.
Oishi's arms flailed out in front of him-- clawing at the air roughly and picking up only a handful of what he'd gathered. "Eiji, y-you have to let me breathe," He stammered, spinning on his heel and facing the redhead who was shaking like a leaf. "What's wrong? Did something happen?" This was all so strange, but it had to have some sort of explanation, right? He wasn't an overenthusiastic twelve year old with a penchant for ghost stories anymore (mostly). Things had some sort of rational explanation. Another prank. Yes, that's all it was. Someone's very sick and strange sense of humor. Well, he was half right.
A loud sniff followed by a quick shake of the red curls was the only response Oishi received from Eiji as he clung onto that warm safe body. Neverending phone calls followed by silence or angry breathing was not what he wanted. Specially if Ran heard that romantic song playing in the background like he was slacking off and doing who knows what. Eiji breathed in short sharp breaths as he nuzzled right into Oishi's neck and refused to let go. He didn't even notice the tornado of pages that seemed to still be floating around the room. It took a little bit of time but being near Oishi calmed him down slightly. That was all he wanted, even as fingers still dug into the back of the other man's shirt and refused to let go.
Eventually whatever breeze had been tossing the discarded pages around the room allowed them to flap lifelessly to the ground, still completely out of order, and likely unsalvageable. Whatever concern Oishi had for picking them up again dissipated with the hurried, panicked breathing against his skin. "Eiji...?" So something had spooked him too, this was definitely... strange. Oishi kept from thinking the 'g' word, that was... silly. Everything had a reasonable explanation, it had to. That, and he didn't really want to think they were on a precarious floating beast of a ship in the middle of the ocean with restless spirits.
Maybe they needed to hold a seance.
After some time had passed, Oishi tried again, "You okay...?"
Eiji shook his head again and continued to hang onto his boyfriend. He was going to be in so much trouble when he finally went back to Japan. He couldn't even begin to comprehend where to start with this. He took a deep breath and sniffed again, reached up and rubbed his eyes a little with his fingers. Then sharp blue eyes looked around the room. "Tornado...?"
Unsure of what could be said to fix whatever had startled him so much, Oishi settled for kissing his partner's forehead and meeting his eyes to silently offer to hear him out if he wanted to talk about it. Being half-asleep hadn't prevented him from hearing that phone ring off the hook, or noticing the identical, frenzied look on Eiji's face he'd worn the last time he got a call like that. Last time he'd acted rashly and upset him further, he didn't want a repeat of that either. ... Though he still thought he'd done the right thing by ending that call.
"Looks like it, huh?" Oishi sighed heavily. "And half the pages are torn out... I-I don't understand how this could have happened..." His eyes trailed back to the front door of his cabin-- still locked firmly. Really, nothing was out of place save for those books. If it had been a burglar, he'd done a pretty poor job of disturbing anything worthwhile. "... I'm starting to get a headache from that music."
A little whimper bubbled out from Eiji at that, agreeing with the sentiment of a headache and that little cheeky grin played over his lips again. "So..that idea of...going around the ship and breaking all of the PA systems..." He started again in the hopes that maybe this time Oishi would just flat out agree. Surely they'd be able to locate some bats or something somewhere on this cruise and they could just go around following the music. Then once they were all destroyed they would have some peace ... and quiet to curl up and just go to sleep. Oishi was so comfortable. Eiji leaned forward and captured Oishi's lips in a slow kiss.
"... Is still a bad idea." Finished Oishi with a mirrored grin back. He reached and pinched the bridge of his boyfriend's nose for entertaining that thought again. Eiji should have tried that a little earlier, when he was more tired and apt to evil little suggestions. No such luck now. Now, he was annoyed and exhausted, but not enough to want to go out and cause mayhem like that. The kiss caught him off-guard, emerald eyes blinking wide. Mn, so maybe he was a lot more tired than he felt... Slowly the tension in his muscles melted away, agitated only when the music's volume peaked. Eiji was getting dangerously talented at draining him of any and all logical thought lately. ... The cheesy music didn't help Oishi's case any. He sucked on Eiji's bottom lip as he pulled back to breathe, staring for a few long seconds before he formulated his next thought. "... if... there's something in here I really don't want to stay in here..." He muttered quietly, a bit red-faced.
A little laugh escaped Eiji. Even if Oishi was all headache and tired, he still couldn't be converted to the dark side, huh? Even for just a little while. He shifted a little and stretched before he pulled himself up and over onto his feet. "Let's go somewhere..." He mumbled quietly with a little smile. There's gotta be somewhere on this ship where they could get some sleep. They could go up onto the deck or something. All of the lower levels must be flooded with this music by now so the only logical place they could go was somewhere with open air. He yawned a bit, this waking up early business wasn't really an Eiji kind of thing. He leaned over slightly and planed a light kiss on Oishi's cheek. "We could find somewhere to hide."
Another sigh escaped him at the mess that still loomed around them-- too tired and frustrated to make a dent in it right now. It wasn't even five in the morning yet. Oishi was used to getting to bed early and waking early, but not that early. His head throbbed from the music, "Yeah, all right..." Nodded Oishi with a clumsy rub of his hand over his face. They were still in their pajamas, though full length pants and long sleeved button-up tops, nothing entirely embarrassing. Groaning, he pulled away from his partner and disappeared into his bedroom momentarily, returning with a pair of large heart will go ons, er sweatshirts. Ugh. The pitter patter of rain outside was barely audible next to the shouting voice that bellowed from those speakers, but it numbed it just enough to grant a small relief. He was hoping perhaps the movie theater would be a place they could hide away and sleep for a few hours, or that maybe not all the cabins had been cursed with this music and they could crash somewhere. Sleep... sounded so pleasant. Oishi slid a pair of sandals over his feet and waited for Eiji to get his own, quieter than usual as that sleepiness drained him.
There was a momentary pause from the redhead after he had pulled on his own slippers. He thought about where they could go for a moment before then going back to the bed and picking up their blankets. Eiji slipped the blankets around their shoulders and dragged Oishi so they shuffed together to the elevator. There had to be somewhere they could go. He led the sleepy man along beside him until they reached the elevator, peppering his cheek with kisses as they hopped in and waited a few short moments for them to reach the correct floor. The further he led Oishi, the closer they go to Eiji's favourite part on the cruise ship. There was a sleepy grin on Eiji's face. Not only did the petting zoo have many pens of animals, there was also a big green grassy field...well...big when considering it's in a cruise ship with flowers surrounding. Probably for picnics or for people to laze around on when they were taking a break from the animals. Maybe...the PA wasn't loud in there so the animals wouldn't be disturbed. Maybe Eiji was wrong. But the idea of curling up on the grass with Oishi in this blanket was very very appealing right now. He reached up and rubbed his own cheek a bit. It was beginning to smart a little again but...it was tolerable. To alleviate the pain, Eiji stole a quick kiss from his boyfriend.
Oishi didn't much mind being led around when he was this sleep-deprived and frustrated. Any suggestion that might eventually find them a quiet place to spent a few hours asleep in silence was something he was willing to give a try. He wasn't sure if the blanket was necessary, but it was appreciated, as evidenced when he settled in closer to Eiji inside the elevator and touched at the arm that looped around his shoulder. A soft moan and a clumsy hand petting through the redhead's hair followed the series of half-asleep kisses. He could swear he heard grumblings from the other cabins on their way out, so none of them had been spared. That didn't exactly make Oishi feel any better. A few minutes of wandering later-- Oishi hadn't even bothered to ask where Eiji was leading him with such determination-- and they arrived at the familiar petting zoo grounds. This... wasn't the theater as he'd expected. And he could still hear that music, faintly. Hm, though there weren't many speakers on this floor, were there? His eyebrows knitted as they wandered a bit further, spotting the open grassy field with the occasional bench and table and biting back a tired smile. So this is what he'd been aiming for. It would work. Out of their dimly-lit cabin, he read the purpling over Eiji's cheek with a sympathetic expression, "Hurts still...?"
There was a little whimper which followed the question and Eiji tugged Oishi over into a little corner on the field. He flung the blanket down on there and spread it out as much as he could. "It hurts more than the time I broke my wrist..." Which was an exaggeration by a long shot but things always seemed to hurt less months and months after the fact. The redhead pulled Oishi down onto the blanket beside him and shifted his body so he could get comfortable cuddled up to his side. Oishi could always be re-arranged to make an Eiji more comfortable. The animal sounds that surrounded them seemed to mingle with the music and that female voice no longer grated on his ears. Then when they woke up...maybe they could go play with the monkeys.
"More that that..." Oishi's sympathetic frown turned more toward worry, weighing whether he should insist they visit the nurse for that level of pain. A moment later he voiced that suggestion to deaf ears, trying again with the same level of success. Maybe it just needed some rest more than anything. With that thought in mind he squirmed and adjusted uncomfortably until he'd worked out all the lumps in the blanket under his back, and piled up as much of the fluffy material behind his head as he needed to support his neck. Eiji really did have the better end of this deal, but Oishi was too tired to point that out. Following several failed tries, he curled inward toward his boyfriend, folded his arm under his own head, and settled his weight into the blanket with a long exhale. It was as close to perfect as they were going to get with that music, though thankfully the speakers were far enough away that only the louder notes jostled them. Stretching his arm out, he swept the blanket over both of their shoulders. "I never want to hear this song again," Oishi whispered within the confines of their blanket. Normally this would be about the time he panicked and realized someone might see them like this, and how embarrassing that could end up being... but not now. Too tired. Too warm. Too comfortable.
